Is this one worth the price increase over the refurbished non-metal meat grinder on the kitchenaid website? The total for the metal one is $40 and the one on kitchenaid is about $20 after 15% off coupon. I only occasionally grind meat and don't really make any sausages.

I have to make my homemade food for my dogs allergies. I have 600 series kA mixer. Would this be able to grind cooked pork?

FYI if you were wondering about washing or sanitizing it in the dishwasher.

From Amazon review:

Cannot sanitize it. Aluminum fades
Well, found out that you cannot even use hot water on this unit because the finish will fade and become textured like sandpaper. It is aluminum and unless you can wash it the dishwasher or use hot water you cannot sanitize it. Any kitchen item I use for raw meat has to be able to be sanitized. After one hot bath the veneer (or what ever it is) started flaking and the finish became rough - which only made the issue worse. Sending it back and spending a few dollars more for a stainless steel one. Disappointed.

43 after tax. Thanks OP.

Too bad they charge shipping for EACH item. Was gonna buy a couple other things but total shipping alone ended up being about 20 bucks. Screw that

When grinding meat, it's a good idea to put the grinder in the freezer to help prevent it from heating up. This will help keep the fat from turning into a gooey mess instead of staying as solid chunks. The texture of your sausage would be much better this way.

($49.07+ $5.50 shipping) x state tax - $15 promo. In Michigan (6% tax) it comes out to $42.84

As for the plastic, check out the reviews. It seems it will eventually crack.
I have had the plastic one for maybe 30 years, and it's been cracked for 10 of those, but functioning fine. Thought about getting this, but like Kramer's test drive I'm going to see how far it goes.

It sounds like this person has no idea what they're talking about (veneer?). You're not going to strip a plating with hot water, and I doubt it's plated to begin with.

Now - if you ran it through the dishwasher, you would eat away at the aluminum and see pitting and a degradation of the surface that might make you think it was losing it's 'coating'.

No way they made a grinder that you can't sanitize.

Looks like the ice cream maker is on clearance too. Good price.

Thanks for this!

I first bought the grinder using the OFFER coupon for $15 off my first order. I then placed a new order for the ice cream maker and used code HELLO10 to take $10 off my second order.

I got both the meat grinder and ice cream maker for $82 after tax and shipping! Don't forget cashback sites, too.

What dishwasher do you own that eats aluminum and causes pitting?
