I wonder if 10,000 will last the next 24 hours.

I've been cautioned by an experienced key cutter that the blanks used in these machines are weak and can break off in locks. Caveat emptor.

i can see that, its definitely 'lighter' than the ones i have from years ago, and i have to jimmy the key to have it sit right and open the door. that being said, still going to get a free key as free is for me.

I stopped by Walmart because they are one of the few stores that carry a cookie brand I like. I got through the door, and saw the 30+ people waiting in line. I did a 180, and left. Walmart is just a pit, and a free key is not enough to get me to go back.
Loews on the other hand, I might consider if gas was not $5/gal.

As an engineer who has done key cutting on my own machine for rental properties, I would say your key cutter is confusing anecdotal evidence with reality.

I've had great luck with the keys in these machines. I can't remember how old my keys are, but they must be at least 7 years old and they still feel solid. Maybe they'v e changed their blanks since I've had mine cut a long time ago.
