It's too late in the spring to plant grass in most of the country. You'll get great initial growth and feel good about things, but the summer heat will end up killing it all. Wait until Labor Day.
Exactly!!!
It's too late now.

Wait till Sept-Oct (the more North you are - Sept ---- the more south you are - Sept/Oct) and OVERSEED like crazy...
Give it plenty of time (a month or two) before the 1st frost and then let it go dormant over the winter.
Come spring time rains...and you'll have thick green grass next year.

For those in Texas/Florida...none of this applies...y'all got your own separate grass types/issues/times for planting.

This is advice for everyone else north of Tenn.
In case anyone's wondering, Costco's [costco.com] price is $62.99 for 25-Lbs.

This Walmart deal is $49.88 for 40-Lbs.

I've tried this twice. My experience in a word? Worthless. Just nothing happened.

I just also use straw. I've done this alone in small shaded spots but it doesn't really cover what you think it should. Put down a bit of topsoil instead if you don't want straw.

You could have also gotten a poor seed bag too. This ez patch stuff stinks if there's no shade for half a day; dries out too fast and I got nothing! Putting seed with soil and straw works the greatest if there's sun for 4+ hours a day!

I had two 60+ft trees cut down when I bought my house in 2016. They also split the wood and at my suggestion, left it in my backyard where trees were cut down so I could relocate it. I procrastinated for about 2 months before i finally moved all the wood, and naturally all grass under was dead. I ended up getting this stuff, threw it down and watered accordingly, and the grass came in quickly and awesomely. Has been there ever since. So not sure why yours failed, but it's definitely not the product.

If you look at the reviews on TSC you will see many folks had the same experience.

Got this from Costco, worked well near a carport. Definitely helps to keep it moist though.

if you have a lot of pine trees make sure you lime your yard pretty heavily as that's usually the main culprit to having grass not grow. worth it to take a quick ph test to see, but this stuff has worked great for me when I lime.

I have 100% success with this stuff. It's mostly fine mulch. You still have to water it regularly

Send it back...or save it and plant it in the September!
If you plant it now...it's like burning $115
