Costco had a 1500 cyberpower true sine was $180 that I was hoping would go onsale for $150 like it has before.. for some reason they removed it from the site.

I ended up buy the apc 1500 true sine for $220 as most gold rated psu's claim they need true sine.. how true that is but I have one and they run on it when power goes out, so got a second
Bought 2 of the 1500 true sine ones from Costco when they were on sale a month or so ago and they are working out great for my computer setup and my entertainment center. Wanted one more but like you mentioned, they removed the listing. I did buy the cheaper version with the simulated sine wave at first but one of those was dead on arrival and no matter what I tried, it would not take a charge.. One more point I would like to make is that after running two of these for the last two months, my electricity bill hasn't changed one bit, so I don't believe these are constantly discharging and charging unless you have constant blackouts when the discharge would obviously happen.

Bought one and battery died within a year, not worth the effort.

Trying to find one for my 4 Bay Synology Nas. Would this be overkill for that purpose?

Reminder: If you have an 80+ Platinum PSU Desktop, you need True Sinewave.

Also, I bought one of these and it arrived missing all of its internal screws. The batteries were bouncing around and when I pressed the button, the circuit board fell out.

Crack it open and see what batteries are installed. I have some 1500va ones and I believe the replacements can be found most anywhere a lot cheaper than buying a new unit. Google is your friend.
Right, the batteries cost as much as the unit. If you want to by some shady replacements you might find them for 50$.

You might consider upgrading to lifepo4 type 12v batteries. Price wise they are coming down closer to sla and have 4 times the lifetime so in the long run they cost less. Search "12v lifepo4" on Amazon. There are DIY'ers doing swaps but there's not much long term data since only been year or 2 since prices dropped below $100.
I bought one of those lithium iron batteries for my son's 12v atv and thought it was pretty good for that. Thing is, I use a special charger for it. Believe they run at a slightly different voltage closer to 13v. Wonder if they will last in a UPS and will charge correctly. I believe that lead acid batteries don't really "overcharge" with a trickle charge which is what I'm sure these UPSs do. It is an interesting idea though and theoretically with a couple of smallish lithium iron batteries it should have 2-3x the capacity with a couple of motorcycle sized batteries.

Much better off selling the dead battery + unit to some sucker on Facebook marketplace than trying to replace the battery yourself.

No batteries are EVER as good as the manufacturer battery, unless you're talking 18650s or AA.

These haven't been in stock at my store in months, they used to be a staple product.
Same. One of my 1350s died after 20 months. Costco took it back and refunded me the $99 but didn't have any 1350 or 1500 models in stock. That was about two months ago. I needed a prompt replacement so ended up ordering a 1500 from their website. Even at $149 it was the still the best deal I could find.

I held off on getting this since my parents go to Costco often and wanted to avoid the shipping cost. Turns out this is 70 in store at my local Costco!!

If anyone is looking to use this to keep their modem and router on during a power outage, I suggest looking at a power inverter that takes tool batteries.

I use a Ryobi inverter and have multiple batteries. Right now Ryobi days has the 150w inverter with two 4ah batteries for $100. This won't work if you need always on internet, but for most, 5 minutes offline is not a big deal for YouTube etc. Doing it this way will also save you money because these UPS units are constantly charging and discharging, even if they have a super fast switch over instead of powering your devices off the battery all the time to achieve the always on feature.

I stopped using a UPS for my internet equipment when the battery died. While waiting for a deal on a replacement I noticed I saved like $5-10 a month on my electric bill. Technically I can use my savings to buy a tool + two 4ah batteries every year for free. With prices rising I save even more.
It costs $5-10 a month to recharge ups batteries? ๐Ÿค”

Are you sure?

The Average Electricity Rate in the U.S. is 10.42 cents per kilowatt-hour.

That means that you are using 95,969.2898273 watts to charge your ups battery ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

i too would love for some true sine wave sale to happen, i am always a bit hesitant to do simulated. i dont know why they dont just retire simulated since they have the technology to do true sine, i mean why make fake sine still if you can do the good true sine lol
Correct. Found out too late that my CPAP won't start and behaves badly (flashing display, etc.) when on these backups.

I got one of these for like $80 in store a few years ago, The batteries on it seem to have gone bad though, does anyone have any recommendations for replacement batteries or is it just easier/cheaper to get a whole new unit?
Not the cheapest way out, but the surest is to take it to a nearby Batteries Plus or similar store. They will disassemble, find the right battery and install for you. Also they often can find uprated batteries that fit the same form factor, so you end up with better than new.

Depends on the store but I've found them either in the aisles with all the monitors or the aisle with the shredders/office equipment.
If you have trouble finding it, just stop by customer service and they can look up the item for you.
