This isn't a con against the speaker itself, but just noting how marketers have determined people are stupid enough to want to buy a nice set of speakers by having a model sitting in front of said speakers wearing headphones. (13th photo on Adorama's site.)
I remember first hearing these kind of speakers in 1979, and I was blown away. I made a promise that I would get some when I got a job and a house. I would buy these, but they dont have WAF or WGASF...
That's why I had to sell my Magneplanar speakers when I got married. Never loved the sound from my setup as well again. My dream home has a listening room in a coach house/cabin separated from the main house and these style speakers along with two subwoofers. BTW figured out that WAF must be Wife Acceptance Factor, but... Wife Gives A S Factor?

I agree with you, if I have a dedicated basement for a listening room... WGASF = Wife Gives A Sh!t Factor....
db and paper cones what does AVS say about speakers with low db and paper?
Generally speaking there's nothing wrong with paper cones. They aren't as durable but that's less of a concern in home application given there's no exposure to moisture, extreme temperatures, etc. The advantage is less weight to move; some of my favorite speakers have paper cones and foam surrounds. Also, paper in this application is likely fairly thick/sturdy.
As for dB...again when talking about higher-end audio it is expected there is "excess" power available to drive the speakers so it isn't a concern. If you're trying to keep the amp small (usually for cost reasons) then you are also willing sacrifice sound quality for more sensitivity.
I see a driver from the Model Five saying "Made in China", but is the cabinet actually assembled in Indiana?
It's all chinese. This "KLH" is not the KLH of old. It's just an exercise in marketing to cash in on the resurgence of hifi. You'll be finding these speakers for $100 a pair on craigslist soon enough.
