Smh.

Beans have oils. This oils go rancid. The poster you quoted is at least cleaning it by taking it apart.

Using rice to clean your grinder is not a good idea. Our experience repairing Baratza grinders has shown that using rice or other natural materials to clean a Baratza grinder can cause mechanical damage to your grinder. This damage would not be covered under our warranty.

So much misinformation and general ignorance about coffee beans. Coffee beans have oil. Oil can go rancid. Clean your grinders. Uncooked rice is much harder than roasted coffee beans. Do not use white rice as an alternative to Grindz. I've used minute rice with good results, but if you love coffee, go ahead and buy this product. It works well. Clean your grinders. And your coffee machines you filthy animals!

Fwiw I've found uncooked instant rice as a great cheap alternative to grindz. They work great imo for a fraction of the cost.

What's a slicker deal? I've had a coffee grinder for 10 years and never cleaned it. Why would you?

Is anyone starting to get a spidey sense that this company is repackaging mostly the same "formula" for different categories of coffee machine cleaning, just to maximize profits (e.g., scam us)?

Lowest price ever according to CamelCamelCamel. Removes coffee residue and oils in standalone coffee grinders. I've had this on my wishlist since I purchased my Baratza Encore (thanks to another Slickdeals post!). Hopefully someone else finds this useful.

How necessary is this? I've had a baratza encore for 8 years and never used anything like this to clean it. I take it apart every now and then and clean it. I also have a df64 that I haven't ran tablets through. Is it necessary?

1 Tbsp of white uncooked rice works wonders. It works for spice grinders too. Just wipe with damp papertowel.

clearly a scam. I would think it cleans itself grinding dry beans and any residue you see is probably not very old anyway.

I think it's because the rice is too hard and startchy. These tablets are softer and easier on the machine to grind.

Lol rice is not harder than coffee beans. It is just a way to push cleaning tablets.

Same here, we have had ours for like 10 years and never cleaned it, didn't know that was necessary?
