Great price, but there seem to be some issues with it software wise, like rtings says a March update broke HDR on consoles. Might take a chance if Best Buy matches.

I use this tv with a ps5 and gaming pc with none of this issues you stated. Horizon FW looks insanely good with vibrant color and no tearing or artifacts. I'm really impressed with the quality and black levels (coming from an owner of 3 oleds).

You basically can't do better than this for under $900.
Rtings said these range from some having no artifacts and other units having tons of it. So make sure returns are easy.

Thank you for this post OP, bought this tv from best buy for 699.99 about 3 weeks ago and just got it price matched with Amazon's price. There are definitely better TV's out there, but for the price and what you get, I am pleased with my purchase and the picture quality.

How does this compare with Samsung Q80A or Q70A?

Had this tv up for maybe 1.5 weeks before returning and going with the TCL 6-series (which I'm sticking with). Don't get me wrong the picture on this thing is insane and for $600 this is an awesome deal. My only issue with this thing is it is BRIGHT. Like holy hell bright. And audio sounded a little bit "tinny" compared to other tvs. But if you want a heck of a picture this is an excellent buy.

This TV is awesome and this is a great price. I use this with my RTX 3090 PC and it looks great. I also have the TCL 55R646, I would say I been happier with the U8G experience.

This is true, but they've already started releasing the patch and should be out to all TVs by next week.

I want to love this TV... great HDR brightness, tons of local dimming zones, and two HDMI 2.1 ports with VRR (for gaming). I was really thinking about it BUT for a TV targeted at gaming (console or PCC VRR use), it has very serious issues with major artifacts in game mode with VRR on. 4k@120 also disables many other effects including local dimming and active contrast due to an overwhelmed TV CPU chip, and the TV has incredibly bad stuttering on 24p content (most blurays).

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u8g

Also, it doesn't follow standard color curves which causes real-life movie & TV HDR scenes to be washed out (yuck!).

https://twitter.com/chrisheinonen...16928?s=20

It also appears that recent firmware has caused a very serious audio dropout issue, maybe due to that overwhelmed CPU.

https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...6/page-338

Unfortunately, you still often get what you pay for.
Common sense will tell you why this tv cost a fraction of those higher tier. Still, this is a very good tv that doesn't break the bank and performs very good.

Anything better you're looking at almost twice the price.

Couldn't you adjust the brightness to your liking? Or are you saying it was too bright even on the lowest brightness setting?

Picture quality is excellent. Blacks are deep without crush and colors are vibrant and no blooming against those inky blacks.

Is this worth $150 more than the Hisense U6G for $450?
