Get a thermaltake at least, if you're going to get a CM hyper derivative. They're only a couple bucks more.
Lol. Why?

GamersNexus on Youtube rated this pretty well for a budget heatsink+fan CPU cooler. This one has the RGB fan, so a pretty good value for $24 from what I understand.

I was going to recommend a Hyper evo, as they used to run ~30$, but they're all over 40$ now, so I pivoted.

40$ is almost double the price, so it's hard to recommend over this one. Seems like it gets decent reviews.

For Coolermaster's sake I hope they made some money off of the amount of copies the Hyper 212 inspired way back when because most "knockoffs" I've seen tested over the years seem to perform as well or close to the same. Personally ended up with a Gamaxx 400 in my most recent build but I'm sure this one is just fine as well. If only because today's CPUs run so much cooler than when this design was first introduced.

Generally it seems that the only thing with some of these may be that the included fan has subpar CFM or is too noisy. But those are also easy to replace.

Kids these days will never understand the struggles of trying to keep a thermonuclear reactor cooled.. Wink

don't the hyper evo's usually go for $25 after rebate?

These perform substantially better than hyper evos so I'd personally rather get these at $24 than EVO's at $25 after rebate. Plus there isn't currently a rebate going on.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Unfortunately, this post is a couple days late, as there was an additional 10% coupon along with free thermal paste [reddit.com]. Though you can still get a free bracket and thermal paste right now if you scroll down and hit "Add both to cart".

That being said, it's still a great price. I got the non-RGB version for $21 before tax 3 weeks ago, and it's serving my 5600x perfectly.

This is a great budget cooler. Good build quality. I'd get this over the 212 evo.

Can someone recommend one for Intel LGA 1700? This does not seem fit.

Thermalright Assassin X 120 SE. With coupon $39.9 * (1-30%) = $27.93. Newer model than AS120 with 4 heatpipes, up to 225w

Thermalright is a significantly better brand for air coolers than both Thermaltake and Coolermaster. They compete more with Noctua and BeQuiet.
