If you only use them a few times, this deal is great.
otherwise,
Multitool, I suggest people to buy one with quick release. It's so much more convenient.
sawzall, buy the most powerful one within your budget.

As someone who is new to the power tool/ryobi world, what can the multi-tool do?

The "wrong tool?" As in Ryobi? Smilie

All reciprocating saws from all brands are power hungry. And all brushless give more power while using the same or less wattage.
okay? no one is disputing that, but the difference is negligible for the type of people in the market for brushed ryobi - homeowners and DIYers. if you are using them professionally, yeah, maybe it was a bad choice.

i spent 90 minutes the other day pruning 1-2" thick branches with my recip saw, the 4ah battery was still at 75% when i was done. i don't envision a scenario where i would go through even 1 battery, let alone the 2 that I own.

I looked into the brushless version of the multi tool and declined after seeing it was a switch rather than the trigger. I was pretty sad TBH
I have a corded multi tool that is just on/off and I've never really considered the need to have variable speed. What are the advantages of the brushed version with variable speeds? I don't think brushed vs brushless would ever matter for me in a multi-tool so the other differences are what would make the decision for me. Sanding is the only application I can think of where you would need multi-speed but maybe I'm missing some uses as I just use mine for cutting.

with the right blade or accessories, you can cut wood planks where other saw can not reach; you can remove grout, tiles, carpet, floors ; you can also sand with it. And people also cut drywall with it

Can this saw be used to cut small trees? 6 in diameter? Or better off paying more for a pruning saw? Thanks.

I have the saw and use it to remove limbs that aren't too large, but are larger than loppers can handle, but too small for a chain saw.
Usually get 2hrs of trimming from a normal battery.

Tried to cancel my multi tool deal at Direct Tools as I dont want the free sprayer. This deal is same price w/ recip saw, but alas Direct Tools is unreachable..called to cancel my order that is still processing and promised a call back in hour..its now 2 hours later..no call back.

Edit: Direct Tools did call back and cancelled order, they said if the order gets shipped they will create a return label..kudos to them

The brushless ONE+ HP tools have better build quality (feel sturdier, thick grips, rubber protection bits). these feel to be on the cheap end of all modern cordless tools.

That said can't beat the prices for the home casual user. The sawall has been great to trim trees and even do some light demo work on 2x4's w/nails and the multi tool is great for drywall and cleaning up trim work. Wish I had gotten them at this price point

Limbs as in plural? Sure... bring your lunch, some extra batteries and a 12" pruning blade or three. This tool will heat up, so you will get some breaks in there.

If I had a bunch to do and wanted to be in the Ryobi line, I would consider the chainsaw in the HD deal [homedepot.com]....
