How is this a good deal? There was a 12GB 3080 on sale for like $870ish a few days ago. Might still be available now. It's basically the same thing at less than 80% of the price.

The difference between the two is basically nothing, and you still get the same 12GB of mem.

Only way I buy this gen is if the 3080 12GB drops to $500. Not going to reward all of the greed that went on the last 2 years. Pop all the asset bubbles... cryptos, stocks, real estate, everything. Time for the withdraw from the stimulus addiction.

Certainly not going to buy any 10GB card here in 2022. Next gen just around the corner. I will buy when I can get what I want at the price I want, not overpay just because I must have something now.

Better deal right there. No need to hate folks. This is the lowest I've seen a 3080ti. In a few weeks, the 3080tis might be 900, the 12 gb will be around 700 or so.

what's causing the current free fall in GPU prices? tanking crypto? i haven't been following the news.

One thing to note is that if you still do any mining, the 3080Ti is 100% unlocked whereas the 12gb 3080 is 90-92% unlocked and less efficient.
