There will be adapters. Maybe you won't get all the bells and whistles of new power supply.. But it'll still power a new build just fine.
these bursts are so small they can't even be measured with almost all software… as long as the psu has properly set protections, and you balance out the rails (for multi rail only units), you'll be fine. Plus, this is all rumored spikes, all speculation. Leaks aren't a accurate source of information.

Are the g6 now made by seasonic? Damn evga needs to beg back superflower.
I feel like this is needed for the new nvida 4000 gpu. I think i will be fine with an 850watt superflower for new amd 7000 cards...

I have a old G2 and with my luck I wouldn't know when it will die. Is this a good upgrade?

I have this PSU and it drives my 5800x/RTX3090-OC rig without issue. Good deal.

I wouldn't buy this if you're looking at 4000 series card, the new PCIE 5.0 power supply are just about to come out. I believe that's why these are getting discounted so heavily

With any other component I'd agree with you but power supplies usually get carried over from build to build. I'd rather future proof now than buy this and later on be forced to get another one.

I just got a Seasonic Focus GX-1000 for $180. Is this just as good? And save myself $50?
Thanks

The EVGA apparently uses a upgraded Focus platform so it should at least be as good as the one you have. Get this instead.

as he said, there will be adapters. Nvidia isnt going to be able to just throw out a new standard that will need to be adopted. That wouldn't make sense, since it'd just limit their consumers and possibly sway them towards RDNA3… the adapters will work, and be fine until we breach the working limits of this 1000 watt unit

Not entirely true, as I was reading the new graphics card can do triple their wattage for short bursts. So if it's a 350w gpu it can pull 1050w! Deeming this unit useless, it's been 20 years since they changed power supplies it's about time.

I bought this directly from eVGA for the same price. It's a great PS! Excellent build quality and very nicely labeled modular cables.
