Yeah I have learned the hard way to hand wash the lids and to minimize extensive microwave time for the lids (ex. when something is hard frozen). I had to replace a lot via eBay (about $2 per lid) and now am more cautious.

I just looked, and we bought our last set on March 3rd, 2012. We just recently had 2 lids crack, so they made it a decade and still seal perfectly around the rim even with the cracks.

My advice is to wash them only on the top rack of the dishwasher without the 180 degree sterilization cycle. The next important part for when they are a decade old like mine is to not open the containers when they are super cold. If they are nearly frozen from being next to the vent in the fridge, microwave them 10 or 15 seconds to make the plastic less brittle.

Too bad they don't have borosilicate glass lids.

Thanks! Looking to get away from Rubbermaid. I ordered the set from Walmart, but arrived with dirty lids. Ordered 2 of these instead!!

The lids are pretty crappy, but if you need em you can buy them for like $2-3 each on ebay.

What I'm more disappointed about is that there is only 1 4 cup bowl. That's kinda the standard size to me. The tiny bowls are kinda useless.

I mean for $20 I used to be able to get four of the 4 cup bowls. And now I only get one.

I think they are deliberately making the lids fragile so customers will keep buying new sets. I remember the lids lasted ages on the older sets (maybe 10 yrs ago?). We now use those silicone lids available on Amazon. They go over bowls too.

I find the snap on lids are harder to clean. They tend to have deeper crevices. For context I only clean by hand.

Agreed. When you hear 8pc bowl you think 8 bowls..They should stop playing games with my heart and call it a 4pc bowl set with lids like it is.
