In a nutshell, for all the FC games, there is an antagonist and their cronies that occupy a large region of a country, state, island, etc. You job is to clear them out using various means (guns, melee, RPG's, grenades, explosives, etc.) and free the populace of their menace. You'll encounter these enemies anywhere, or in groups/camps throughout the region. You also build up your skills and unlock weapons as you progress, and you can drive any and all modes of transportation you come across. Of course, there are nuances between the games (in FC5 you can get other characters with various skills to help you in fights where their skill might be of help).
The maps are huge open worlds, and the stories are varied and interesting, but the premise is the same for all of them. I really enjoy playing them and have played FC 3, 4 and currently on 5 (with New Dawn waiting), and even though FC6 doesn't seem to get great reviews, I just enjoy the premise of the game and the various weapons, modes of transportation, etc., so I'll likely play that soon too. So much fun IMHO.
This game is definitely one of the weakest Far Cry games. It looks and feels like a late PS3/early PS4 game. Especially the character models. At least the PS5 version has adaptive trigger support. Other than that, there is nothing special about this game. The story is almost non-existent. The gameplay is identical to the last several games. Unless you just want a new geographical setting, there's not much reason to play this one.

The number of characters they throw at you in FC6 is madness. I didn't enjoy it as much as 3,4 or 5 as you really start to feel the repetitiveness in this one.
FC7 needs a complete reset as these games are becoming the Madden of FPS.

I've never played any FC game...what's the premise?
