Wow, this wins the award for 'most ignorant statement I've read on Slickdeals".

For anybody else happening into this thread, I have a pair of Intex inflatable kayaks with similar design and construction (though they are 2-person) that I've been using a few times a year for five or six years now. No leaks, no punctures, no problems at all. Things are rocky and pokey where I tend to go. 70+ pound dogs ride in our kayaks, and their nails have not been a problem either.

Having some common sense for maintenance and taking precautions against the obvious is all you need to keep an inflatable in service for a good while. I have hard some of these can have poorly welded seams from the factory, so I would definitely recommend doing a full inflation (maybe even slightly over-inflating), a good look-over, and leaving the kayak set up for at least a full day - preferably out in the sun - as soon as you take delivery to make sure there are not any quality defects before the warranty/return period expires.

I got a $50 single person kayak about 5 years back. Used several times a month for for past 4 years, now its just sitting in storage coz I moved to another state and there is no lake nearby. Basically more than 300 hours over time

I wish the price was still $185. I would jump on it if it was.
