With this deal you can get the brushless impact wrench for $157. Not a bad deal for a Makita.

Any reason not to return impact wrench and just use an adapter with the impact driver?

The wrench seems overkill for an average DIYer, no?

Makita Is considered a step above the red and yellow but it never has any good deals making red and yellow better bang for buck.

Makita always has good deals. Dewalt's probably been the worst for battery deals that past few years and they're a bit stingier with their Home Depot promos in general, at least outside of Xmas season. With Makita you basically get free batteries with the 36V saw kits and they run the promo every other quarter.

Dewalt hasn't had much outside of a clearance string trimmer deal that Fastenersinc ran a couple months ago.

This. Long time Makita user here. Love my tools, but I have probably 4 or 5 fewer things than I would for the same price as red or yellow

Total for me ended up being $289.45 (266.22 + 23.23 tax) after cancelling the 'free' tool.

Edit:
Going back now there are more options for the free tool, looks like I missed out on saving about $12 by not going with a more expensive 'free' tool.
