I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.
Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.
Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.
I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.
1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.
2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.
3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.
Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

Anyone know if you do create a new line on say, AT&T..can you cancel the line/account immediately and not incur any fees? I imagine it would have been cheaper than the extra $100 but I didn't want to risk it.
I went to the store in NJ this morning and had Z Flip3 to trade from past week's deal. I was offered $800 for it after checking for 10 minutes, then I was told that S22 would be 849.00 for 256GB which made sense because that was the activate later price. I asked can you activate now for 649.99 and was told which won't work because phone is not available in store and will have to order. I suggested nicely if I can just trade in and get a BB gift card for $800 and she agreed. Upon leaving the store, I placed an order for S22 256GB for 649.99 plus Watch4 Active version for 99.99 because if you purchase phone (s22 series) and watch4 together, you get $150 off of sale price so I ended up paying nothing because my total for phone and watch came out to be 799.36.
I thought that was pretty sweet deal considering I am getting new phone (Feb 2022 vs Aug 2021) and watch4 for dad for Father's Day without paying a penny.
I think if you go in store and ask nicely, agent will listen and help you out as this TIV is little tricky process this time around.
Edit: when I placed an order for S22 unlocked 256GB, it showed a delivery date of June 8th so I will only have to wait a day, that was nice. I think inventory might be low in the area where you're located.
-Actually not a POS but the battery life is a terrible (a little over 4 hour SOT max and loses almost 10% per hour without use, less than 2 hours if I'm playing a game) and it overheats when it's hot out.
