I drove for 20 minutes to a Best Buy the other day just to be told that my phone (Z Flip 3) was not on their trade in list, even though I said I did the same deal just a week ago at a different store. I argued for 20 minutes and didn't get anywhere, so the next day I went to a different store and got the deal in less than 10 minutes.
Not all Best Buy employees are trained the same, so don't be discouraged if one store says no, and just go to a different one.
Then, they may believe you but have trouble figuring out their system. When they pull up the model for the trade in, they have to go past the initial screen. When they do, the promo should show up. Then it's going to ask them for the promo code. That code is literally SAMSUNG. It's nowhere to be found otherwise.
I've traded in 3 phones under this promo because of the high values they're offering. Each experience varied.
1) First store did it without issue once I balked at the low trade in and mentioned the promo. He knew everything.
2) Second store couldn't figure out where the promo was and is responsible for the info I provided above.
3) Third guy refused, said they don't do trade ins and when shown the promo called his manager. Manager said Best Buy would have to be stupid to do this and refused. Lol. This was the same store as the first time, just different employees. Went to another store and they did it just fine.
Point is, the experience will vary widely depending upon the knowledge level of the employee. Just be polite and patient and stick to your guns. Most of them just aren't aware of the promotion or familiar with how to do it. One manager was so happy when I told her I thought I knew the promo code that she fist bumped me and thanked me profusely twice. Only one guy was a complete @$$.

I have TMO currently, so the cost of trading in a N20U towards an unlocked activate now S22U 256GB at Best Buy would be $156, taxes included, no new line fees or activation fees.
Of course, this probably doesn't matter anymore as many stores are closed for the day, and deal will probably end at Midnight central. Perhaps they bring it back for 3 day Father's Day deal this coming weekend, or switch to carrier version sale then. . .
If I were trading in an S21U I would be going with Samsung deal. If I had a ZF3 or Flip 5G, I would for sure do BB deal (and did a few times lol). If I had MVNO Samsung deal for sure, instead of opening/closing new account at BB.
Any answer from anyone who has recently done the deal?
I cancelled the T-Mobile line after 2 days and owed them $11.88.
samsung shines in accepting cracked screens. thats why i did both, came out to roughly the same price.
