I absolutely love my Chromecast with Google TV.

HOWEVER, you should replace the default launcher with FLauncher

edit: the default launcher is laggy and full of ads. additionally, as it's android based, sometimes applications stay alive in the background (like the laggy launcher?. I've noticed better UI/UX performance with the different launcher.

Wouldn't this be cheaper to get through sling tv promotion? Pre pay for a month for sling tv, cheapest plan is $35 and get a free google tv 4k. https://www.sling.com/deals

I took about 4-5 days for mine to ship. Canceling is pretty easy through their website.

You can also go into your profile and enable "App only mode" (or something like that). This removes everything except for the main background ad and leaves you with just a row of your installed apps. I may checkout Flauncher as well, but this was also a quick fix for me that gets rid of all the junk on the app's home screen.

Unless you REALLY need Dolby Atmos support, the Onn Android TV device at walmart is a much more compelling deal.

I have both... I personally prefer the vanilla google tv interface so I tried a CCGTV but the biggest issue for me is that the OS on the chromecast uses more storage than the firestick so you're more likely to run into issues with running out of space. This is especially an issue if you plan to use Kodi.
I also find my firestick more stable- less restarts and hangups and I had a remote fail on the chromecast in the short time I had it.

I have 7 fire stick 4k collecting dust. 20 bucks Walmart onn is amazingly fast especially when you do developer options and turn off all the animations. also simple tv launcher is amazing

Chromecast with android seems the best because it has no encoding issues like the roku has.

Agree that device works great. I have both in the house and I can't tell the difference performance wise (I think it even uses the same cpu)

I like mine. I got the Sky Blue for $45 from Google a few weeks ago. I like how it can be used to turn on/off, adjust the volume and input of my TV, and choosing photos to use as wallpapers from my library. I feel it's worth the price if you don't have a Smart TV, and especially if you have an Android Phone as they integrate nicely

It is if you like being in the Google ecosystem. Plays nice with Google smart speakers, etc. If you're an Amazon echo user then I'd stick with fire stick.

Is there ANY AndroidTV box that can be controlled with Infrared remote? *ANY* device ?

After installing SmartTubeNext etc., I really want to use an AndroidTV in my media system, and I have all the system components controlled with Logitech Universal remote. But just don't want to have any exceptions I have to pick up another remote for, like Bluetooth etc..
