I absolutely love my Chromecast with Google TV.

HOWEVER, you should replace the default launcher with FLauncher

edit: the default launcher is laggy and full of ads. additionally, as it's android based, sometimes applications stay alive in the background (like the laggy launcher?. I've noticed better UI/UX performance with the different launcher.

Wouldn't this be cheaper to get through sling tv promotion? Pre pay for a month for sling tv, cheapest plan is $35 and get a free google tv 4k. https://www.sling.com/deals

I took about 4-5 days for mine to ship. Canceling is pretty easy through their website.

You can also go into your profile and enable "App only mode" (or something like that). This removes everything except for the main background ad and leaves you with just a row of your installed apps. I may checkout Flauncher as well, but this was also a quick fix for me that gets rid of all the junk on the app's home screen.

Picked one up to plug into a TCL Roku TV that was starting to feel a little laggy with launching apps. I really like the way this works, integrating all of your apps together for a more streamlined process that's quicker than the integrated Roku. However, some apps have a noticeable audio lag that, after searching online, appears to be a problem with a lot of other people too. The only thing I found online that worked was to turn Surround Sound off in the options for the Chromecast, which is unfortunate. Seemed to help but I can still see a little lag here and there.

If it weren't for the audio lag, I'd probably buy more to put on other TVs in the house too. I like a lot of what the Chromecast with Google TV offers.

Grabbed 3 of these for $90.00 each when they were selling them with 6 months of Netflix. Only took a few weeks before they replaced all my Rokus. Love the interface and the little remote.

dont know about GTV remote, but the Onn 4k box remote cannot control my LG projector (vol/pwr) whereas the Tivo Stream 4k remote does.

Dolby Atmos does make a difference if you have decent speakers but most people here I assume have 'affordable' TVs / soundbars.

I have 2 of these I use regularly and I like it.
Remote is tood and has control for TV's power, volume. It also has the TV input button which is a nice to have extra most don't feature.
I have used both for Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, HBO, Peacock, PBS, Sling, YoutubeTV, Tablo, Apple, Amazon streaming services at various times and everything has worked well.
I prefer the interface to Fire or Roku. But that may be more personal preference and individual opinion. Some peoople may like Roku or Fire interface more than this.

The main problem with this device is the limited memory. Ive installed like 10 apps and the memory is already full. But the interface and device performance is very good. The another big difference with firestick is that this device supports casting.

I bought few in vain... Use Fire Cubes only.. glad I got Netflix credit for these or I would be very mad at myself.

Biggest issue is the page / icon refreshes this device needs to do and it super annoying in that regard
