Any pros have any comment on this? I've been thinking of getting a polisher/buffer for my car and to help my parents with theirs.

They are decent buffer for home use but can be questionable for long term medium to heavy use

What would be the next step up as far as quality? Big jump in price?

Honestly, in this price point that is a decent deal with everything it comes with. Spta is another in that price range that's comparable. The harbor freight ones that go on sale for about 50 bucks aren't bad either. Step up would be a Milwaukee but get 2 batteries. And then rupes for one of the best. But unless you are doing a ton of paint corrections and/or doing cut and buffs on fresh paint then you don't need a big dollar one. The Milwaukee one is really nice and if you can find it on sale it can be reasonable on the price too

Everything I've seen has said the Griot's G9 is the way to go. This set is similar but will cost you $199 so definitely a different price point. But may be one time spending more is better long-term.
Comes with 2 more pads but without the pad cleaner:

To add to this, if you're patient and sign up for their mailing list, once in a while their 15% off sale/coupon can be used on polisher kits (the 20% and 25% coupons always exclude polishers)

I have an orbital tool and was 50%+ the price of this set. So with everything included this is a very nice deal. I am tempted to buy this but I won't as I have all the included items (albeit different brands). I can do other things with the 150 this will cost me.

If you dont have any of the above and want/need them and you can afford it. I say buy it dont ponder too much.

I bought a used Griots back in the day for 20 bucks. I did like 15-20 cars then it died. Griots said to send it in. They send me a new one. BEST 20 BUCKS EVER!

Note there are two different Milwaukee Cordless polishers. One is a rotary (2738-20) and the other is a Random Orbital with a 15mm throw (2684-20). These are both very expensive. They also have long throw to be released soon

I recently did a fair amount of research before buying my first polisher and attempting to remove scratches on a 2012 Camry that had a ton of scratches from the local car wash. I chose to go with the Griot G9. I purchased it on eBay and it did exactly what I needed. If you look around the net for reviews/comments I think you will agree that it is the go to polisher for the occasional user. Having done a single car, I definitely think the 3" G8 is a nice addition. I am in the market for one - hoping to see a Father's Day sale somewhere. I see where AutoGeek ran a 20% off sale on Griots June 11,2021 - maybe we will see it again.

That variety of pads is unnecessary. Orange for compound, white for polish. The rest aren't needed unless you want to be the old neighborhood dad using power tools to wax your car every weekend. Waxing with power tools is retro.

Raise your hand if you were here during the Amazon/CG fiasco and nabbed this along with other goodies for $5 or less?

Just an update here I received my order and I actually got a 2nd TORQ R5 Dual-Action Red Backing Plate with Hyper Flex Technology (5 inch). There was one in the box with the tool and one packed separatley thrown in with the other included items. I don't know if they will all ship this way, or if the person packing my order just messed up.
