most of the crap thats caught is usually in the p-trap ( u shaped pipe ) under your sink

i hit it with the plunger first and if it doesnt work i wear some rubber gloves and remove the trap and clean with hot water, dawn and a old tooth brush and sponge and clog solved.

As any plumber would tell you, plungers are the most effective clog removal tools and to avoid this if at all possible
But plumber is too expensive to hire these days. Labor rate jump at least three times saying all because of inflation.

Snakes for snagging hair clogs have been great for me. It's gross having to pull the gunk out, but it actually resolves the actual issue.
completely agree. I wasted over $150 on drano until i recently found this tool. People, do yourself a favor and buy this tool. stop wasting $$$ on the Drano

Drain weasel gets in the drain and physically removes the gunk.
With these you're just dumping toxic chemicals.

Adding you to my list of plumbers that have said this stuff is not recommended.

Has anyone actually had drain cleaner work on anything other than a small issue?

If your pipes are metal, it certainly will, if they are newer, PEX or other non-metal they wont.

If you're trying to unclog a sink drain, learn the 10 minute job of removing, cleaning, and replacing the trap.

I love Slickdeals, I was 2 seconds from buying this discount Drano I'll never use and instead I click a link to Home Depot and am buying a Drain Flexi Weasel I'll never use.

I'm sure there are levels when it comes to clogged drains, but at least for me what has never failed is simply using a metal hanger and pulling out as much gunk as possible.
