certain rubber and vinyl compounds react so I guess there is some vinyl in the carpet fibers or backing the wheels are reacting with. (source: https://forums.wyzecam. |

So much of the price of these robot vacs seems to be from brand marketing premiums.
The Wyze seems almost identical to the TocMoc T3 I picked up in November for $130, except the T3 has two spinning brushes and was advertised as 3kpa. The T3 is sold out now.
I bought it when no one was even discussing the brand, but based on the pics it seemed likely the hardware was coming from the same factory as other brands going for $200+ at the time and reminded me a lot of the ecobot deebot 901 lidar model that I really liked. The performance has been great, but the one downside was that I couldn't find the T3's app in Google home, so couldn't connect it to home assistant.

Seems that at least one of the major manufacturers has started removing one of the two spinning brushes to try to save on costs. This seems true for the Xiaomi mijia and the iHome.

Based on the consistency in design, if you want to risk it like I did, I think there is a pretty good chance that many of the components are similar in the iHome, possibly even coming from the same factory. It's not just a reskin though, since the charging nodes are on the base on the iHome, so there may be other differences. Still seeing as how it comes with a emptying station and advertizes 2.7kpa vs. Wyze's 2.1Kpa with decent reviews, for only $33 more, seems like it's worth considering.
