For those planning on adding ram, maybe consider the 5825u model. About $150 more, but you get a better cpu, and it comes with 16gb of ram.

Review in short:

1. Feels cheap (plastic all around)
2. Keyboard is okay... the base is flimsy but types perfectly fine for me (no backlit)
3. Screen looks good to me. I didn't expect much but no issues with the contrast or sharpness or color for me. I'm only doing basic web browsing, occasional streaming, and just random work stuff so I really don't need that much from the display. Will add that the 120 hz is nice. It's definitely fast for a laptop and definitely helps with performance.
4. It's fast, especially after I upgraded to 16 gb. If it slows down, I'll just upgrade to 24 gb then 32 gb but this will probably be years down. The CPU is nice and good. Refreshed I guess but it's great. I have to get used to Windows 11 but it runs this with no issues.
5. Sound initially was meh (I don't care much about it) but when I started watching some Netflix, it wasn't half bad.
6. Wifi is fine for me. It isn't slow or anything. Again, not doing hardcore streaming or downloading or anything.
7. Haven't tested it with games yet but probably not gonna be playing anything crazy on this.. I have my desktop for that.
8. Doesn't really get hot... fan runs a little bit then it dies down after a few minutes.. pretty normal and doesn't seem to run >50% for me. This will be dependent on what you do but this is why I'm a big AMD fan... less energy = less heat so theoretically, this laptop should work well.

All in all, pretty great budget laptop. Again, was trying to aim for sub-$400 with best value. To me, that was the CPU, m.2 512gb, and size (15.6"). Easy to upgrade RAM for $33. And relatively light and mobile around the house. Just hoping no issues down the road (given it's dell) but will just deal with that. If I can get a good 5 years use of this for sub-$400, I'm good.

The specs is right, they just use the old render of the previous intel version. Note that the USB-C is data only like those amazon adapters, and the HDMI can output more than rated specs, up to 4K 60hz. Here's a review of it [thehikaku.net]

Hmm, specs say "type-c", but the picture clearly only shows "type-a" ports.
Too bad they couldn't fit in a backlit keyboard too.

Seems like a great value, I need the backlit keyboard for my own personal use but everything else is pretty well rounded out. Solid buy in my opinion.

Never seen a laptop with a 15,000 benchmark score [cpubenchmark.net] processor and a 512 gb ssd for $400. What am I missing?

this looks like a great deal tbh, but I'm skeptical of the screen, does not look like its 100% sRGB, but I believe we will also see much cheaper options as the 6000 series become more available

It might be working again. However, I did go through the "Dell Shop" link here on SD, and then select the 10% Off for Email Signup coupon. Got Capcha to work, and about 45 min later got my 10% code. Used it immediately on this deal (albeit with the Ryzen 7 processor). Came out to $573 with all the combined coupons. Repped.

I was also deciding on ryzen 7 vs 5.. If you have AMEX, you could have done the $120 off $599 (add a filler item from dell)... Sorry, I would have posted that info if I knew... I ended wanting to spend under $400... but the ryzen 7 (and 16 gb RAM) is probably worth it...

Nice. The AMEX offer wasn't available for my Blue Cash card. So I used the Chase Ultimate 5% offer for Dell.
