All I'm looking for is something that can power a regular full size refrigerator, (not a mini or small frig) for those unwanted power outages for a few hours until it returns back on.

Best to invest in a Kill-A-Watt device to see how much power your fridge uses at startup and while it's running. The marketing says this can surge to 1000w.

My guess is, though, you might want to invest in a power station that's a bit larger.

One other thing to note - there's no AC pass-through charging (looks like there may be DC pass-through, though). If it's an outage that extends for a while, you couldn't have it both powering the fridge and charging.

There's no reason to power a fridge if the power is only out for a few hours. Don't open the door. Problem solved

No pass thru charging = no deal! Still seems like the eco flow river pro is the best bang for the buck currently if you have a costco membership. I am still debating whether to get it with the 5% additional cost for non-members. Or wait a while to see if ecoflow will come out with a lithium phosphate version of the river pro. That would be a game changer indeed depending on the price point.

Eco flow river pro isn't LiFePO4, so not really comparable to this.

do you have a suggestion for a good resource on what "features" to look for in these. aka... i have no idea what pass through charging is, and i wouldnt have realized it was important till i saw this comment. id like to make sure i dont make that mistake in the future. im considering buying one of these for our car camping setup, and to have on hand at our offgrid solar cabin as a bit of an added power source on top of the 120ah solar setup we have there.

i was also thinking of doing a diy setup as all i really need is a battery, a 12v outlet, and a way to charge it when we are using the truck. the inverter, built in MPPT charger, etc isnt really necessary.

pass-through charging lets you use the Cellpowa500 while also charging it

Another important consideration is the maximum solar input. You want to be able to charge it with a lot of solar.

Yeah, but you don't have any idea if it will be only a "few hours". The last time my power was out, it was 18 hours. They didn't give an ETA/

My response was to someone who said their power, apparently regularly, goes out for only a few hours. A few is not 18. Although realistically considering the freezer side is connected to the fridge side a day might be ok if you never open it and it's pretty full.

Regardless I will would never waste the money on this for that type of senario. It would only be able to run a fridge for a couple hours max where is not needed. A small inverter generator would be cheaper and a much much better option.

But I've never bought into either because my power doesn't really ever go out

I think your overestimating the need for more than 800 charge cycles on something as small as the ecoflow pro. 800 cycles is over 8 years if you go camping every weekend and charge twice that weekend. Most people aren't using a 700whr system for daily charge discharge function. More likely than not its a novelty that most people keep in their storage and use it 5 times a year. Yes there is that 1 or 2 person use case who use it everyday but they already know to go buy a different system if thats the case

I need something to run a dehumidifier in FL if we lose power for several days in a storm (hurricane). I don't care about the fridge, I just want to avoid mold. I bought the ecoflow from costco for $950. Wondering if this can do the same job. I can recharge it at neighbors who have whole house generators. Edit, I do not want a gas powered one

My full size fridge (freezer on one side, refrigerator on the other) has a surge power of 1500kW, and when it's actively cooling, it's just under 115W. It's only actively cooling some of the time of course, with a duty cycle of about 50%. So over the course of 24 hours, it uses about 1.6kWh in a 5 person household. Ignoring surge power, this generator would be able to keep the fridge running like normal for about 5 hours under normal use. Of course if the power is out, you wouldn't be using your fridge like normal. When the fridge isn't being opened, it only uses about 300Wh over 6 hours. So this battery will keep the fridge operational for over 7 hours under conservative use scenario.

That's the pure math of it. The piece of this that other people aren't taking into account is passthrough charging on AC outlets. This particular battery doesn't have passthrough charging, but there are plenty of others that do. If you get one that does passthrough charging and you have a 100W solar panel, you can both charge it during the day as well as run the fridge. My fridge effectively has a power consumption of 50W (if you net out the duty cycle). There's a good chance that on bright sunny days, your 100W solar panel can keep up with the fridge and also charge the battery a little bit. Say you have 8 hours of good sun that gives you 70W solar power, that'll extend the fridge runtime to over 15 hours in one go.
