I had one. It was okay, but even after doing a pass with this and coming up opaque, I went back the next week with a bissell green machine that extracted black water. So it might be fine if your carpets are pretty clean, but ours hadn't been cleaned in a decade according to the prior owners and the bissell was way better

they go on sale for around $300. Completely worth it, the best you can get aside from hiring professional carpet extractors. Most of these are just carpet "shampooers" and leave way too much water in your carpet/pad. Y

ou can rent one and most box box stores to try it out.

That is my biggest complaint about the cheaper one that the head isn't heavy enough to stay down to the carpet and really move the dirt and suck up properly.
