Buy a bag off eBay, buy a used set of better irons off eBay and a used driver off eBay and a used hybrid off eBay and it'll be slightly more but 10x better. These clubs suck

What would you consider a good brand?

Terrible waste of money, seriously. Playing golf with crap clubs isn't fun.

What's a good starter set in terms of useful clubs? Driver, 3w, 5w, hybrid, 6 irons, lob/pitch/sand wedge, putter? So many choices..

Costco has pretty solid set of clubs for beginners. I got them last year for $500 and really enjoy playing with them.

Used club prices are crazy right now. I was looking at used p790s and they cost more than when my friend got them new a few years back

PXG probably has the most reasonably priced new irons from a quick search for beginner/intermediate. That being said, 211 DCs are still gonna run you twice the price for a set of 6 irons, so you'd still be spending another 4 to 600 at least for driver, woods, putter, bag.

The Costco ones go on sale a few times a year and sell out quickly. Fantastic set for the price if you can score them.
