Yup last time I ordered a drive it was shipped in a plain USPS mailer. No bubble wrap or protection of any kind.
CMR if anyone cares to know.
Newegg oem drive shipping is risky. They do not pack them properly. I stopped trusting them. You've been warned. My last experience was troublesome.

To be fair, Amazon isn't much better at this.

I don't know how many times they've played target practice with my front door when the box is clearly marked fragile.

You are right! Amazon is just as bad. They don't train workers to protect things like this. Air-pack pillows are all you might get. That is not good enough for bare OEM mechanical drives.

Amazon does not even use bubble mailers here in NJ,NY area.
They ship electronics in poly mailers.

Just bought these drives from WD's website for $97 after cashback a couple days ago (WD80EAZZ). Kind of a nutty price. I checked historically and it's the best price ever for the hard drive. I was about to buy the 16TB for $300 then I thought; why don't I just buy two 8TBs for under $200. No brainer. I figure WD will ship their HD's properly too.

I bought two of these a few months ago. They're alright. Not too loud and get the job done. However, they have no spin-down feature, I guess because they're intended for home use in desktops.

Thanks. Bought from Westerndigital.com directly. I'm sure they'll ship it properly compared to Amazon and Newegg.
