I have a traeger pro 780 and the MEATER block with two probes. It works really well and from what I can tell, the temp is spot on. My only complaint is the block has to be really close to the probes. I'm talking within 3 feet when it is on the smoker (I put it on the hopper basket). I did a brisket and during the cooldown in a cooler with blankets I was unable to get a reading. It was fine because I usually just time it anyways.

Minor distance issues but very easy to use and accurate.

I've heard people having trouble with signals from not getting through the thickness of some metal smokers. The people who have gotten it to work love it.

One common complaint i see is there isn't really an ambient air probe on its own. Some foods don't really benefit from a leave-in probe (like ribs or stuffed peppers), so the dual functionality of the Meater probes doesn't really work. And most of u should know you can't just use the built in temp of most smokers since they're not very reliable.

I bought one a few months back. Works great; I love not having wires to mess with and coming out of the smoker lid. I'm going to buy a 2nd one with this deal. Applause

Just stick in meat, set the box it sets in next to smoker or close by because it uses Bluetooth from the box to your phone using the app to check temp and time left until done.

I've used the original meater and the meater plus. The original meater works great if you're within about 30 feet.

I use original meater to cook steaks on the grill or anything in the oven.

I use the meater plus when smoking meats or longer cooks where I'll be around the house. My dad's grilling area is about 80 feet from his kitchen and he smokes in a Traeger without issue.

I haven't bought the wifi setup as my smoker has wifi and wouldn't need remote monitoring outside the smoker.

These seem expensive - especially for the blocks. But it can be frustrating dealing with multiple wires at the grill getting in the way or tangled at the wrong moment, so I'm looking forward to the added convenience of going wireless. This appears to be the best price for the 4 probe block at least since I've been looking over the past several of months.

I agree, but ultimately pulled the trigger as well. Convenience is the greatest premium in life, and that holds true in this instance.

I use a kamado grill to smoke, and I frankly enjoy cooking a Boston butt the old fashioned way. The problem I encounter is that my briskets can range from 11-18 lbs. and it gets difficult to calculate cook times appropriately without opening the lid a bunch of times.

If you're looking you ain't cooking, and this resolves that for me.

Just pulled the trigger on the 4 probe block. Already have a meater plus and love it. I am partricular on my steaks when cooking. So when I am doing chicken, pork loin and my steaks I got tired of only having the one probe. Now I will have 5 and the app will let you have up to 8 via meater link.

When I looked into these a while ago, it seemed like they were a bit disposable from some of the reviews. I mean, what batteries like cook temps? Prove me wrong though. Anybody been using their meater all the time for years and had no issue?
