Guys, if you do not see anything, my suggestion is to call T-Mobile and ask if you are eligible for offer P038.
SD members can't read. Don't waste your time answering questions
i bolded:

YMMV.as it appears to be targeted to users with a 3G device currently active on a line

So once you have your sim card in the iPhone 5, do you just go through the ordering process and choose upgrade for that line? I have an unlocked 5S and the trade in only shows $100 with no mention of this promo. Perhaps 5S is too "new". According to the specs the iPhone 5 supports 4G so its highest speed is not just 3G
I think that's where the YMMV comes in. I have a few extra free lines over the years that resulted in plugging in my old iPhone 5's. It could be that they used to be AT&T phones, so they only have the 3g compatible bands with T-Mobile.

Well it's not that they 'really want' their customers kicked off 3G, nor do they want to give away free devices. However if they didn't, and you have a 3G only phone right now? They lose a customer when it's shut down.

Even at $10/line, these sorts of customers that use extremely little network bandwidth + never upgrade their devices are basically free money for Telecoms. I can't imagine people that still have 3G phones active use any real amount of data.

Exactly, poor choice of words on my part. They're shutting down the 3g network bc it costs too much money to maintain and they "need" to provide these promotions to keep from upset customers who are actually using their lines and keep loyalty. My extra lines are free lines accumulated over the years from promotions. eventually for my kiddos once they're "ready" for cell phones.

I inserted the SIM card into the iPhone 5 for about 36 hours. Checked tmobile site periodically for the $430 trade in offer but nothing showed up except the $100 trade in offer.

I called customer service to asked if I am eligible for the $430 promo, csr said yes. I told csr online only shows $100 trade in value, csr said don't worry about that, go through with the trade in process and purchase, tmobile got you!

I asked the csr to give me the offer in writing or summary of what we discussed emailed to me. The csr only emailed me acknowledge that I made a call to tmobile regarding trade in of iPhone 5 but nothing in writing for the $430.

I'm going to YOLO with this offer. I'll let y'all know in a week or two if the offer sticks or if I end up going to war with tmobile.

Just to update I was able to do this today. I put one of my sims in my old iPhone 5s last night, opened a chat today. Rep said it's all good, processed my order for a iPhone 13 pro green 256gb, verified the 5s is a 430 in bill credits. Easy. Waived all additional fees. Paid around 66 in taxes.

Is this offer eligible for business accounts? I have 5 tablet lines but I might consider opening voice lines if I can get this offer.

You were able to get iPhone 13 pro instead of iPhone se3? How much in addition did you pay?

The promotion (P038) is for $430 credit on a new iPhone when trading in a 3g iPhone. The slickest deal here is to just use the $430 credit on the iPhone SE3. But the credit can be used on any iPhone.

IMO Se3 and iPhone 11 is more worth this trade in... anything higher is good but with all these crazy trade in deals T-Mobile has between Costco/Best Buy/T-Mobile you can probably easily trade up... the cost/trade isn't quite there for 12/13.... if u plan on staying on the phone, by all means go 13... but se3 and 11 are a good stepping stone...

The real deal is getting $430 for 10 year old iPhones. Nowhere even with inflated trade in prices, you will get to match this. You get higher trade-ins on iPhones X/XR/11 from time to time, but we are talking about iPhone 4/4S/5/5C/5S. These iphones are worthless.

Can I upgrade a line and then turn around and sell the phone if I don't like it? Will I still continue to get credits as long as I am on t-mo?

Good luck. That is why you always do these kinds of override deals via chat. A lot of people here have horror stories due to broken verbal promises and bad intel from T-Mobile reps.

As my orders pushed through by cs calling in are now showing promo offer as they ship out, so if you aren't able to get it via tforce or website, call in to order.
