This is a good price for authentic pencil but I was too cheap to purchase this. Instead I bought a knock off brand for 20 bucks on Amazon and it works awesome. It doesn't magnetically charge but it holds a charge for like 12+ hours. I also don't have to worry too much about losing it.

That's more than I paid for my 10" Fire tablet... and I write on it with my finger just like Steve Jobs intended!
Very cool. Enjoy your fire.

Can a knock off brand do different thicknesses depending on the amount of pressure placed? (In other words, can you do calligraphy with it?) I have been looking into getting the Apple Pencil for calligraphy practice (been doing copperplate with ink and nib) but was waiting in case a 3rd generation comes out soon. Wouldn't mind getting a knock off brand if it can do calligraphy.

I wanted to get back into drawing and after watching some videos of artists reviewing a pencil and an ipad pro, I took a chance and it's amazing. Feels natural. If you're just taking notes then pressure sensitivity doesn't matter and get some cheaper brand.

Apple has the 2018 ipad pro for $519 refurb. It looks new to me and it has a new battery. The 120Hz screen really makes a difference.

for the record, this is better than a $6 knock-off why (for a non-artist user)?
When I tried multiple passive pens before, apps like OneNote would always get confused between the pen tip and the side of my hand resting on the screen. Keeping my hand floating hurt my arm. Wasn't usable. The pencil doesn't have that issue.

Also Pencil is like writing with a well sharpened pencil. The $6 passive knock off was like trying to take notes in a meeting or draw diagrams with a crayon as those cheap pens have like 1/8-1/4" tips.

Not sure if this is an issue anymore, I use onenote all the time and have 2 different knock off pens that were ~$20. They work perfectly well without a single issue with my palm resting on the ipad likea regular piece of paper.

Is there a particular one you recommend? I'm no artist... Just looking for something basic to take notes.

Why are these so expensive? Seems like it's just a conductive tip.
It's much, much more than that. It includes pressure sensitivity, tilt measurement, and wireless charging.

Yes, it's expensive, but all the other cheaper styluses (including the ones that are still $70, for instance) are missing at least one of these features, possibly two.

If you're just using it for notes or something, then it's probably not worth it. If you care about art at all, then there's nothing else on the market like it.

I texted with apple to see if they'll price match it. They'll only price match it up to 10%, I explain to them that the definition of price matching is actually matching the other price. But they didn't change their mind. Long story short, buy it from Amazon or Best Buy, great price.

Don't let this thing get discharged. It will kill the battery. If you do, make sure it's during the warranty period.

It's a known issue with them.
Wow, really?! I was considering getting this if it went on a bigger discount (if one happened), but a manufacturer flaw like that is a deal breaker.
