This is probably one of the top automatic pour over coffee maker out there. The lowest price it's been on Amazon is ~$135 so this is a excellent deal.

One thing to note is that for this particular machine, OXO counts a "cup" of coffee to be 5oz and not 8oz. So technically this makes 40oz of coffee max, and not 64oz like you might expect. The minimum fill line is 2 cups/10oz of water.

There's not that many coffee maker out there that will heat to the optimal temperature for a pour over but this is one of them. It's also one of the few coffee maker that features a insulated carafe with the lid on so that minimal heat escape if you're too busy to drink it fresh.

Personally I like mine, the coffee comes out pretty good/similar to when I make it with the Hario v60 Switch. However I rarely use it because I enjoy the process of making my own cup of coffee in the morning. It really doesn't save me that much time/effort since I live alone and only drink a small cup in the morning, and making it using the Hario Switch takes me 3-5 minutes tops.

I can see it being different if you need to make coffee for the whole family or for multiple people.

Only downside, no timer to start coffee maker automatically. My nurse wife leaves home at 5AM, can be waiting for brew time.

Not sure if this would work but couldn't you use a smart electrical outlet wifi switch? I assume some have the ability to be programmed

This is a really good coffee maker. Brews pretty quickly. And the carafe keeps your coffee hot for at least an hour and a half. After that it's still on the warmer side but can cool off fast. I recommend tamping your coffee grind before each brew, makes your coffee taste better and a bit stronger as well. I haven't had great success with the single cup brewing function, but 2 cups or more taste great.

Smart plug with this model would be a no. That tactic works when the coffeemaker is a simple switch that can be left in the "on" position. I had that setup with a Mr Coffee model and enjoyed having it. This Oxo model requires a button press to power on the a button press to start the brew.

I have this coffeemaker and like the output quite a bit. When I was shopping I for sure wanted a thermal carafe and a powerful enough machine to heat the water quickly & to a good target temp. This one fit the bill nicely.

Is this coffee maker worth if for single cups / single use in the morning? I see there's an optional single cup mode

I use one of these for a similar application with my espresso machine. It works great!

I like to drink really hot coffee.
I have questions about brew result heat/temp for both this OXO and the Hario you mention.
  1. How hot is the resulting OXO brew? My Mr. Coffee's brew is tepid to the point that I have to microwave it before putting it in a thermal lidded mug.
  2. Same: how hot is the Hario's brew? I've never used one before, but it looks like a pour-over that requires the water to steep for 3 minutes (per website).
  3. Another Hari question comes to mind. What makes the Hario pour-over so special and worth the price?
Fyi, I'd love to have a maker that delivers an authentic brew taste, plus keeps initial and remaining coffee HOT. TIA.

Thanks for the info. I also use a Hario Switch (or Aeropress) every morning and have been thinking about one of these. I drink 1-2 cups a day and my wife doesn't drink coffee, so it sounds like it wouldn't be worth it for me.

I bought this machine earlier this year and this is far and away the most consistently great cup of coffee I have ever been able to achieve by any means.

The switch bot won't work with this. In order to brew you need to supply power, then press the on button, the select the brew size.

I should say that this brews quickly, in fewer than 5 minutes. I had the Bonavita before, and this is faster, but the Bonavita had more even water distribution. I occasionally find dry grinds when emptying the basket. Even so, I love this coffee maker.
