I don't care for the TCL's with Google TV built in, I prefer the Roku ones.

This is a good deal for a 65" budget-midrange TV. It's also the brighter TCL 5-Series (2021 Google) model vs. the older (2020 Roku) one.

My take for best bang for your buck on 65" non-OLED (depending on available deal):

TCL 4-Series: $400
TCL 5-Series: $500
Hisense H9G: $600
Hisense U8G: $850
TCL 6-Series: $900
Sony X90J: $900

In my personal experience, TCL is great value but they start to run into issues a few years in. I hear Hisense is luck-of-the-draw, they can be even better value than TCL but there's quality control issues so it's a gamble out of the box. Sony is where price meets reliability.

Edit: Also see the Best Buy deal comes with Apple TV+ for 3 months free. But it's a moot point. You can already get it for free separately:

$500 for the 65" TCL Google TV is pushing it. I've been waiting for the 55" to drop back down to under $399.99. Which today dropped in price to $429.99. Soon the 2022 models will be out. But I might just bite at that $550 price.

In January, I picked up the 55" for $399. It's been a great TV after I calibrated it. Such a good picture. I do recommend a sound bar to fill out the audio.

I subscribed to QuantumTV on YouTube for a month ($5 US). He has subscribers only calibration videos that details his settings on this model. Use those and you'll be enjoying your TV in no time.

In January on MLK Holiday it dropped to $379.99 for a brief time. I should of brought it then. But kept hearing about the Google TV OS problems. Are you having any problems with the Google TV OS?

Does this have VRR/Freesync? If you play XB/PS/PC on a TV that feels like a requirement now.

True calibration would be adjusting settings in a Service Menu. and I haven't found much information on secret menu's or service menu's on these newer TV's. One would think that there should be a service menu but most likely not because these are a DISPOSABLE item

Not really no. TCL issued a patch that corrected the GTV issues they were having. It was available for download when I connected to the internet. No issues here.
