For anyone interested in Contra, just a heads up that there is no online NetPlay, only local co-op.

Just bought it! It's in Italian site, hopefully I won't get hit with a foreign transaction fee.

These are also on sale for $3.99 each on the Steam Store.

Yes, however Steam does work with Remote Play Together features. Latency is serviceable enough. Have played reasonably well with it.

Technical question: I have a Windows-based DIY arcade cabinet that uses two zero-delay USB encoder boards for the two joysticks. Does anyone know if it these releases work with a dinput controller like those, or do they require xinput?

Thanks for this, almost all my games are on Steam so this is an easy grab.

Good to know and I'm glad it works for you. I'm not sure how Remote Play Together is implemented, and what is acceptable lag for different people on a game like Contra. I'm assuming whatever solution is more of a streaming approach and can't handle latency as well native netplay or something like Retroarch's netplay implementation. It may still be good enough though.

For $3 it's a good deal, just disappointing Konami didn't implement any native online co-op.

Even if they don't support DInput, there are plenty of wrapper programs to spoof them as XInput.

Oddball suggestion, but if you want a controller purely for 2D games, the Pokken Tournament controller is like a big fat SNES controller with grips and a couple extra buttons, it's great. Otherwise I'd look at 8bitdo options or of course just an Xbox/PS4/Switch Pro controller for general gaming use.
