I literally just closed this card after having it for a year. I redeemed my points then did a chat with them online. It was so easy to cancel. As long as you cancel within 37 days of the annual fee posting, they will remove the fee.

Can you use the points to pay for the balance on the card or you can only redeem them for gift cards?
Redeeming for cash is never a good deal.
I redeemed 160k TYP in 2021 for roundtrip tickets to asia in business class. That's worth about 7000-8000. The 80k points are worth about 3500-4000. IMO one of the better ways to use those points.

I assume you couldn't apply for this card again this year, right?
There are clues throughout this thread on what happens for the virtual card, so just thought I'd share what happened to me (I have an existing Citi account):
-Approved for card (no mention of digital wallets at end of process). Card did NOT appear in my accounts listing.
-Next day received an email saying my card had shipped and was on the way.
-Card appeared in accounts listing as ready to link to account.
-Card appeared in the 'Card Control Hub' with options to add to digital wallets (Apple, Paypal, Amazon, Click to Pay). I don't see any specific mentions for Google Wallet there, but I don't use that service.
Hope this helps. Customer Service was absolutely clueless on this process. They insisted I'd have to wait until the physical arrived before I could do a digital wallet.

I applied yesterday, card showed up today and I was able to add it to Google pay through the Citi mobile app. As soon as I did that Citi locked all my Citi credit cards for fraud. Still working on getting them unlocked.
This is my first Citi card so seems I have to wait to get it to set up my account. Shipped on the 1st and was supposed to arrive by the 11th. Got an email from Citi that it was out for delivery on the 12th but never showed up on my USPS delivery preview and never received it. Called today for another card to be sent.

Nicely done.
They can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think stemple was talking about the 2nd annual fee. The first annual fee is charged at the beginning, so if they had it a year, they paid for it once.
I got this card last year, and the annual fee was charged within the first few days of having the card. I recall someone saying in the old thread that they cancelled the card within a few months (cant remember the specific timeframe they said), and the fee was refunded.
I was going to cancel mine and try to get it refunded, but then I decided since they approved me for $4k, that I might keep it open and downgrade to their 2% cash back card, with no annual fee. I called to downgrade a few months ago, and the rep said it had to be open for a year before you can change it. My year is up in a week, so I'll be trying to downgrade then.

I don't normally use Apple Pay, but I was in a hurry to put a vet surgery on the card to go towards the bonus. They locked it for fraud then, but I suspect it was for the sudden large amount. I didn't get locked out for adding it to a digital wallet though
