I have the $300 per year plan with 8GB data and I've been on the phone with customer service. They wont change my data to 16GB. I was on the phone with them 35min to argue. I asked for a supervisor and they hung up. I'm not giving up though.

I challenge you to try visible for a month vs your verizon main service. Most everyone states that there is a clear drop in quality from verizon to verizon prepaid to visible.
and many people move to mainline carriers such as att prepaid cricket
Interesting. I'll take your word for it. I'm still under contract for another year or so with Verizon so I can't switch. I traded in a broken iPhone X and got 800 bucks off a 13 pro, sold my 11 pro I had at the time and broke even on what I paid for the iPhone X and the difference from the 13 pro haha! But I've got a big family with a grandfathered plan and so I'll probably keep paying my parents my portion until they up the prices.

Op was asking about calling India from the us so +1 to +91, not roaming in India. You are correct with a newer iPhone you can use any us physical sim and an international data esim to retain us calls in any foreign country it does not solve physical did (regular dial) from one country to another unless you have a physical sim plan that allow that like say redpocket.

Google voice is nice because you can tell it to run over data versus carrier volte and that way you save the outrageous international calling fees many carriers charge. it's not free but it is reasonable. most people outside the us use WhatsApp or WeChat so those all run over data and you avoid that situation altogether.
Unless if you have tried and experienced, don't assume it will work. If you have tried pls share the US provider you used in India. Seen big providers charge for everything. So I have quoted something that works. And when you go there for emergency or planned vacation you will not be toggling between Google voice and your primary number. And with visible I was receiving US calls and was able to call US with my US number with wi-fi calling. And for local calls, used local esim.
When I came back to US, wifi calling ( calling or receiving )needs international roaming plans to be added to Indian SIM otherwise it was restricted to getting only sms ( useful for otp).
For this deal, does ATT prepaid wifi calling work without additional charges in India?

Anyone having trouble switching, which is probably everyone porting out, get in touch with AT&T support on twitter and they'll take care of everything for you. Their handle is @ATTHelp They are really helpful and courteous.

I switched 4 lines from Visible to this yesterday and the process is terrible. Customer service is nonexistent, it's a catch 22 all the way through. But once I found their twitter it was painless.
I spent like two hours calling but only got automated reply. I am so glad I see your post. Can't thank you enough.

Fair. I've got Verizon unlimited for 30 a month and I easily hit over 50gb monthly with no issues or noticeable slowdowns. Have no need to switch to Visible but I know on paper it's the best bang for your buck plan you could get.

My experience with visible is really bad. I mean, I switched from mint to visible, and noticed a clear downgrade of service quality. Whenever I go to some place that is slightly crowded, the data speed is immediately throttled to abysmal.

Yes, but there are others with $25 unlimited plans. Plus, it's not hard to get family and friends on board for that cheap. If you can't get family and friends on board, there's even Reddit groups for Visible customers on shared plans.
Good to know. But if anyone in your party not paying their share, who will be responsible? It's probably too much hassle for me to deal with that. I like simplicity and have more control with a cell phone plan. So it's probably not for me. Thanks for the information you provided.

How fast does the sim card come? Or can I go pick it up at an ATT store? Would like to do this but ideally want it within the next 4 days.

That makes sense. Only red flag with this is they're probably going to change the deal after a year and then you're screwed looking for something else

I am a current prepaid customer AT&T.
Trust me don't get this service. It is really bad. You don't get the speed they advertise. It is terribly slow. I am just waiting for the 12 month to get over.

Any carrier will be bad if the area you are using it mainly does not have good towers

I always tell my friends to trial the service for a month before signing up for a year

1888 port activations number will take care of you

always and I repeat always do the port as a
second step

Order a sim online get a new number same market as the one you are porting out and contact 1888 number AFTER you have activated temp number

Wow....I hope you all have a better experience than I have had! Their CS reps all give different info and I have now wasted 4 hours and been through 8 different reps trying to get my temporary number replaced with my ported number. The last "supervisor" said they have NO WAY to do it using the sim card and number assigned to it when I signed up and that I will now have to go to a corporate store to get a NEW sim card so they can cancel the temporary number and port my number to a new sim card. What a bunch of BS and waste of time. Had I known it was going to be this difficult to just start a new provider and port my old number over, I would have stayed with RP! Sadly I'm screwed since I paid with a ATT prepaid card and no way to get a refund. Hope you guys don't have this same problem with porting a number over after receiving your SIM and the new(temporary) number becoming active. I don't know who to believe anymore since one rep says one thing, the other say another and none of them have been able to fix it!

Ya....I'd be very wary of this (see my previous post!) I have spent 5 hours off and on the phone with 9 different reps and the last "supervisor" at the porting center told me the ONLY way to port my old number over was to get a NEW sim card since the sim card they sent me got activated with a new number....so ya, be afraid! If there is a different way, I'd sure like to know. It's been a nightmare and I am still not finished with it getting ported.

This "may" only be an issue if you are trying to port from an ATT reseller (ie RedPocket or anyone that uses ATT service)

What are your options now? Did you ever get it resolved?

ONLY options they give me now is that I have to go to a corp store to get a NEW sim card so they can terminate the temp number that activated when I put the sim in and turned on the phone....and activate my account with my ported number to a new sim card. Total PITA! They mentioned this is an issue with AT&T "resellers" so others may be fine if not coming from a reseller that uses AT&T towers (in my case Red Pocket) off to the ATT store to get a new sim. Had I known it would take the better part of my day and get me all pissed off....I would have just stayed with RP and saved the $$

So the moral of my story....if you are trying to port your old number from an ATT reseller that uses ATT towers and you are trying to port after you have already activated the sim....it's going to require you to go get a NEW sim to port the number. Frown
