According to CCC, this is the lowest price ever. And more YMMV, I had a "prime discount" of $10 to make it even lower.
wild rice is a more healthier rice than common brown rice. Its GI is only 45, lowest in all rice. Also it has a similar flavour as red bean.
It has a strong chewy taste because of its hard shell. So it's a little tricky to cook. I usually cook it with brown rice setting but a little bit more water. When it fully cooked, it will split from middle and reveal the soft white inside part. It is also good to mixed with other kinds of rice to increase taste.

Just an FYI, this is not Black Rice.

Wild Rice is not even rice, but the seed of an aquatic North American grass.
I love this part of the description:

"Pour it on your pancakes, waffles, or French toast, it makes wonderful apple syrup, it's "apple honey" on your morning toast, yogurt or oatmeal; use bee free honey any way you can imagine, but most importantly, enjoy it"

I got stuck on how you pour rice over your breakfast... Smilie
Wild rice is one of the only grains native to North America, and definitely its most misunderstood. It is not directly related to Asian rice. What's more, the black rice you see in countless Thanksgiving stuffing recipes every fall is an imposter. Here in northern Minnesota, at the center of the genetic reserve of wild-rice seedstock, where it grows naturally in lakes and creeks, we call that black stuff by its proper name: paddy rice. In the 1960s, the University of Minnesota began domesticating wild rice. They planted it in rows in flooded paddies, which they drained to harvest by combine like any other field crop. Ironically, paddy-grown rice isn't wild at all.
Hope that helps a little.

I thought it is Minnesota rice, then I saw the label: Indian grown, Indian harvested.
The Indian denomination might be a misnomer going all the way back to Cristopher Columbus who thought he has reached India ( and thus, despite his merits, the continent was later not named after him, but instead after Amerigo Vespucci who figured out it was a hitherto unknown continent.)

I'm confused on what you think regular rice is? This isn't like almond 'milk', wild rice and rice both be types of rices.

This isn't the wild rice you are thinking of. Wild rice in Asian supermarket are a different type than this wild rice.

The reason they put this on the label is that native Americans literally go through the rice fields by canoe and the rice drops into the bottom of the canoe. It's a way of life that has existed for generations. You support them by buying from them vs commercially grown.
