Lower model of this deal posted earlier, but I find that the deal is a great value on the lower models specifically. The coupons apply in a way that make this E15 Gen 4 ~$50 cheaper than the equivalent E14 Gen 4.

Coupons SUPERJUNECLEAR + JUNEBIGDEAL
5% discount via id.me for first responders, nurses, students, etc
3% Lenovo rewards

Ryzen 5 5625U 8gb 512GB SSD model [lenovo.com] $611.26 after coupons ($580 w/ id.me discount)

Ryzen 5 5625U 16gb 512GB SSD model [lenovo.com] $647 after coupons ($613 w/ id.me discount)

Ryzen 7 5825U 16gb 1TB SSD model [lenovo.com] $825 after coupons ($782 w/ id.me discount)
You can upgrade the ram to the 16gb model r get your own stick later on for about the same price later on, but based on discussion in the previous thread only 16gb will run in dual channel.

The one issue people may have is the color it is listed as "Mineral Metallic" so not the black shown in most of the images on the product page.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Is the E series a step above the L series in terms of build quality?

I was also confused on this and there are some threads on the Thinkpad subreddit with people saying the E series is below the L series, but also the L series has worse screens in some models...but also that the newer gen Es have better build quality than the Ls. I think the general consensus from the threads was that the newer E15s may have a slightly better build quality than the L15s, but honestly people were disagreeing.

The problem is there are no L15 Gen 4 yet it seems.

What's the mineral metallic color? Black? Both black and silver colors are shown as "mineral metallic" on the page. I'd probably bite it it was black.

I couldn't find much on the color. This one is listed as Mineral Metallic as well and has a few more pictures on the page. https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/la...e.com%252F I'm pretty meh on the color, but at least the screen bezel looks black.

I bought the Ideapad 5 Pro at costco and am returning it. Only thing I will miss is the higher screen resolution and the extra USB C port that can be used when the power cord is in the main USB C port. The screen is nice, but my main gripe is the touchpad which has been terrible. Becomes unresponsive and searching I've found several threads with people complaining about this on Ideapad 5s. I've never had issues with Thinkpad touchpads on laptops we use at work. I guess it also has the nub, but I never really use them.

The internals are basically the same if you get the 16gb model. Mainly need to decide if you want the higher res screen or Thinkpad design, minus the extra USB C port. Thinkpads, even the E series feels more durable than the Ideapad 5, but also not as sleek. More of a utilitarian design. The keyboard on the Thinkpad is also better IMO although I don't know if they changed anything in Gen 4 with the KB.

Would the X13 Gen2 at $626 before IDME, 10%, 3% rewards be a better deal?

Yeah it's my main gripe, but at $560 after tax and cash back it's hard to beat on a 15" Thinkpad. If I am honest my laptop rarely is seen by anyone other than my wife so I don't know why I should be complaining. I just want the classic black Thinkpad color for no good reason.

Theres more images on the product page that show the mineral metallic color, they should remove the black images from the product page. You're ordering the "Mineral Metallic" sku. Lenovo is lazy and don't have product images of the Mineral one so they just fill in the gaps on the product page with the black model.

Bad deal IMO since the ram is soldered and no 2nd slot, so you'd be stuck with 8gb and no dual channel. I get its a small portable laptop, but what a waste with the Ryzen 5000 CPU.
