A few miles?! Bro, these aren't walking shoes. They look like water/pool backyard/lounge shoes. Not knocking the shoe, just don't think the application is correct.
Yeah, this style of shoe is actually awesome for kayaking. I have some cheapo knockoff from BJ's that I use in our kayak and canoe and it's great for that purpose. Color doesn't really matter in that case because it's just going to end up covered in mud and you're only wearing it in the boat anyway.
Kind of curious if these are worth paying a little extra. Love my Merrell hiking shoes.
Good deal on the hydromocs - agreed the design can be polarizing, but I find them great for campsites. Always a conversation starter. If you are looking for a more traditional look, check joybees at REI for roughly the same price https://www.rei.com/search?q=joybees&ir=q%3Ajoybees&r=brand%3Ajoybees[rei.com] . I find them MUCH better quality than crocs.
I just want to chime in and say that these great to have along hiking. I may look silly but I have no shame always having a pair strapped to my pack for stream crossings or if i have a shoe failure out in the middle of the woods. They are even supportive enough to easily pull on Kahtoola nanospikes to make the stream crossings that much safer.
Crocs tend to be very slippery when wet and no way you can strap spikes onto them. Well done, Merrell! I am amazed how they are getting shit on in every thread here when they truly improved upon an existing product, here.
I'm trying to understand this. I get it, merrel is an established shoe brand, but I'd say they've been less-than-stellar over the past 10 years or more. Crocs are bullet proof. Like, drive over them with a car bulletproof.

I've been wearing Crocs before it was cool. I saw these HydroMoc at DSW and the quality is head and shoulder above any pair Crocs I have owned.
I bought a pair about a year ago but had to return them because the rubbing on the back of my ankle. Would definitely recommend trying them out though because I loved everything else about them!
