Do you have to smear it all over the dog, or how does one apply something topical that requires touching to kill the bug?
For this you just part their fur in a few spots so you can see their skin and place a few drops along their shoulders and spine.
The medication can't absorb into the skin, rather it stays on the surface layers and the oils on the dog's skin naturally carry the medication all over its body. it only takes about 12-24 hours for the medication to spread out.

It says it may cause some redness/itchiness if it gets on your skin, but I imagine that's really only if you put it directly on your skin. It's gotten on my skin before and it's been fine I just washed it off with water.
When we apply to our dogs we just try not to pet their backs for the first day. By the next day you can pet them all over and you'd never know it was on them.

Not that I don't trust you, but do you know if there has been any studies done on it?
Currently use Simparica Trio on my best friend since I'm wary of these topical solutions. At the same time, I'm not sure if ingesting something may harm my best friend more than the topical harming the rest of us humans.

Do you know if this is safe for humans?
Not in as human use, but dog to human transfer.
