No. Last year m1 MacBook Air was $750. If not urgent, I'd keep waiting until M2 air comes out. Will probably see better deals

It's never been $700.

It was $749 (via student discount) at Best Buy. Only once, one year ago, and for 36 hours.

Any discount on the 512GB SSD version?
Nope. It's still it's regular price of 1200.

Was it $750 at Costco or do you mean the Best Buy deal?

They're keeping the M1 around at $999 and introducing the M2 at $1199. Not likely the M1 goes below $800 until the M3 comes out in 18 months.

Seeing an Intel MacBook Pro still only sees a $200 discount, I'm not sure I'm holding my breath for a bigger discount on M1 models.

Then something else was causing the lag if you're using it just for email and web browsing. Try ditching crappy macOS chrome browser

Meh deal when comparing against shops that sell online without tax, or shops that give you back most of your tax like Amazon or Target (5% back). Though for people with a Costco card getting that extra warranty it's nice.

Almost no shops sell without state sales tax.

Costco Citi gives you 2% back, and if you have an executive membership, you get another 2% back on top.

Hmm. Interesting. I've never paid tax on a MacBook Pro before but I just spec'd one out at the usual shops and now they're adding tax. I think there was a mandate sometime recently that must have changed how they tax.
