Ryzen 5 3580U (aka microsoft edition )
paired with Radeon RX Vega 9
4 core 8 threads TPD 15W
Passmark bench @ 7520 average.
compare to Intel i5-1035g4 @ 8223 average.
It is not bad actually, especially video power will be better than Intel variant.

If you would have properly read my post I had indicated that I had read online on my own, but that much of what I had read was more hyperbolic than substantive. As such, I was seeking feedback from community members from their experiences.

From Intel's 4th gen all the way to 9th gen, the incremental improvement was 2-5% in each generation; AMD was "asleep". Then AMD came out with the Zen (Ryzen) architecture, and things (both Intel and AMD) started to have 10%+ incremental improvement per generation. Maybe that's why you are hearing "if it's not new, it's garbage".

To be fair, R5 3580U is on Zen+ architecture, which was introduced back in 2018. Intel's 10th gen was introduced back in 2019 (AMD's Zen 2 was also introduced in 2019). So, you are basically comparing a year older architecture to Intel.

Any opinion on this posted deal vs this 3700U elitebook for $50 less? My thoughts are that it would mainly come down to: screen preference (15 vs 14) as well as touch, and feel of the surface vs upgradeability/repairability of the hp.
