This is an upgrade for existing AM4 users.
Intel has 5-10% better performance for the same price (at the price of higher power consumption) for new builds
Only get the G version if you're absolutely sure you'll use Integrated Graphics
Otherwise buy the 5600 non-X version for $5 more. With the G version you only get 16 MB L3 Cache. The 5600 has 31 MB L3 cache. Ryzen is very memory bandwidth limited.

Agreed on the Intel part, and would have went that route if it weren't for the slick $60 Gigabyte B450 Wifi mobo deal that Newegg had/has. Ended up being $225+ tax for the two, vs. another $50 or so had I gone Intel, due to a pricier mobo.

If they did end up with liquidation prices (assuming this price isn't already), I would imagine they'd go pretty quick and you might miss out.
You'll get a free bag of random 90s printer cables with purchase of CPU

Thanks for the opinion! I am just making a build for my parents running Ubuntu, so I don't need a cutting edge chip, but I want to future proof the system as much as possible. I think I am going to wait for a deal on the 5700G. I am not going to be running a graphics card, so I would like to get as much graphical processing power as possible out of the chip.
