There is no such thing as a new "high powered electric" power washer for "$100-$150."

Besides the cast iron sleeved Honda GX 200 [honda-engines-eu.com] engine (a little less than 6hp), where this Ryobi washer is unique is it's adjustable throttle for more or less pressure. Most are full on or full off and dependent on the various tips for more or less pressure applied. Add the auto decompression, it is easier for some people to start... Grandma could pull the rope start on this one. And yes, at 3600 psi, this will clean your concrete drive with or without the optional rotating head. They had the better wheel model attachment for flat surfaces, but think it sold out.

Most gas power washers have throwaway engines unless you want to bore out the cylinder. The cast iron sleeve in this one can be replaced and use standard pistons, rings, etc. Someplace [pure-gas.org] in any decent size town, they sell ethanol free gas... use it, or at least use it at the end of the season for storage. It is only about 50 cents more per gallon with a higher octane (91) and worth every penny over water absorbing ethanol for small 2 and 4 cycle engines.

This is a great price, but honestly if your a home owner you dont need this in most cases one of the $100-$150 electric pressure washers will suit your needs just fine. This is more for people who run businesses doing power washing regularly. I find a high powered electric to be a lot less hassle overall, so if I had to choose I would go with the electric route every time.

TU for the great price.

Might be a stupid question but I have a gas pressure washer and haven't used it in over a year, and there's been gas just sitting in the tank. Does anyone know a) if the gas will go "bad" or b) how I am supposed to drain unused gas? Like, is there a shelf life to how long gas should sit unused in an appliance and if so, how would I go about safely extracting and disposing of it?

Thanks for the site for ethanol free gas. But closes place that has eth free gas is a 2.5 hours round trip. It would cost me for gas money to get that eth free gas. laugh out loud

YMMV. Pressure washing without enough pressure is just a glorified hose. In my opinion, either get a 3000+ PSI or don't get one.

im a pretty big guy... 6'3" 240... i *think* i could carry it down a flight or stairs, but im not sure.

the issue we have that is going against us, is that we park the cars across a small stream about 75 yards away from the house and closest hose bib. so pressure washing our cars sounds awesome, but every time we do it would requrie us to pull out a long hose to get to the other side of the stream.

the price we pay for living in the woods i suppose!
.
Sounds like when I lived in rural Missouri with a rock road home through the creeks.... "how high is the water, mama?" Most of the time, barely get your shoes wet and sometimes about neck deep and moving with logs and debris.

From what I have seen of Bilco steps, being tall can be a detriment about halfway down and carrying anything large requires me to go backwards. I have a double door on a root cellar that is wide enough, just not tall enough, but perhaps yours are different with a deeper basement.

It would be nice to have a hydrant close, but if clean water, maybe screen it and pump it right out of the stream.

I just pulled one link from a dozen listings. You might have someone and they simply did not list their station. Perhaps ask around. I am rural, so the closest is about 25 miles that I am by there at least once a week. I don't like hauling it, so fill up several 5 gallon jugs that lasts awhile. Canned gas at the store is expensive.

We have a Simpson 4500psi with a 11hp Briggs that is a great pump, but heavy. You will need deep pockets for a real Simpson setup above about 3500psi. I would not hesitate to buy this deal if I needed one... and still thinking about buying it, but if you are close to a Farm & Fleet, they have their 3400psi Simpson [farmandfleet.com] brand with a Kohler for $379. It seems like they are also having a coupon sale this weekend. But, I am sure there are other deals out there.

Wonder what brand pump is on this Ryobi? I don't know that Ryobi actually makes this washer, but it has their 3 year warranty and a 10' longer hose than most.
you comparing triplex with axial?

I'm a total idiot when it comes to power tools etc, my dad was not a handyman (didn't even own a power drill) and never taught me anything, so I have been trying to self educate after buying my first house...

First, try starting it... Smilie

You can remove the hose to the carburetor, or just in front of the filter if it has one and drain the tank. You can then remove the nut from the bottom of the carburetor bowl and drain it. Be careful you don't bump the bowl, or it will fall out and there is a needle valve connected to the float that shuts off fuel when the bowl is full that you don't want to lose. But, if it starts and runs, put some new gas in it.

Yes, gas goes bad, but not as quickly as it did. A year or so is about the limit without deterioration, but it is the collected moisture from the Ethanol additive that can cause the grief. Most fuel filters will stop the water collected in the gas tank, but it also plugs them. The nice thing about draining contaminated fuel out of the gas tank is that the first part will be the water and the remainder will probably be alright. But, you may not have any... try starting it, but don't run it more than a few seconds without a water hose attached.

Thanks for the deal. I picked one up.

I've had meddling success with our electric pressure washer. While it performs, I can tell by the sound it is making and the inconsistent on/off behavior that it is not 100%.

Off the shelf electric pressure washers are indeed throw away items. And once you factor in the re-sale value of Honda-powered devices this is an easy BUY.

I am not comparing anything but dollars spent for what you get and availability. It will be over a month before most get the OP.

There is a lot of discussion that Triplex is better than Axial (as you are trying to do) and I would agree, but an Axial pump should last about 800 hours and that is about as long or longer than the typical gas engine will last. It is all tired and you got your money's worth. If you could change the oil in the Axial pump, it would probably last longer.

I will also add that not all Triplex, Axial, or even Wobble pumps are created equal.

Depends what you're doing. This might be okay for a professional detailing business but good luck making any money doing structures... you're going to be out there all day with a 2.5GPM flow rate.
Having been in the pressure washer business for 20 years as a service tech, this is something many people out buying a pressure washer don't understand. GPM is as important if not more so than pressure coming out of a nozzle. I can clean a car 3 times faster with a firehose than a garden hose because of the difference in water volume. 2.5GPM is okay for the average homeowner. 3GPM is better. 4GPM or higher, now you're in business.

This packaged 3400psi Honda GC powered washer [directtoolsoutlet.com] with the wheeled surface washer for $340 might be a better deal for some... that wheeled surface cleaner [directtoolsoutlet.com] is not on sale and not cheap. They also have a smaller [directtoolsoutlet.com]wheeled surface cleaner for electric washers with lower psi that is not on sale.
Looked at your suggestion, the pump is inferior, both on materials and design. The Wheel can be purchased extra for $50, no need to agree to a lower model to get the wheel.

looks can be deceiving. while this is a good price, no way in hell you are getting 3600psi from a GX200. It will be closer to 3100-3200psi TOPS. so like i said, good price, but if you have ever used a dewalt or simpson 3600psi for example or have one to compare it to, it WILL NOT be the same results.

That being said...In for 1. Lol
