I checked with Lenovo support. It comes with the 52.5whr battery, which is a bummer given the specs. I would think that upgrading to the bigger capacity battery should be an easy aftermarket upgrade, but can't be sure.

Wow, that is really unfortunate and a hard pass for me. A 52.5wh battery in this laptop is an absolute joke. Even the 14" IdeaPad Slim Carbon has a 61wh battery, and that laptop is only 2.4lbs!

Looks like none of the available AMD configs of the P16s come with the larger 86wh battery as you can see here:

https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/..._Gen_1_AMD

A bunch of Intel configs do come with the larger battery, as well as two out of a dozens of configs of the T16. Lenovo has yet again ruined an almost perfect laptop.

Probably means that an Intel Alder Lake version with the 86whr will have comparable battery life to the AMD equivalent with a 52whr lol. Can you imagine, who would want to buy the Intel version if the power efficiency is so starkly worse for Intel laptops! I agree, though, nerfing the AMD laptops with the tiny battery is a dealbreaker, but I wonder if a bigger battery can be bought separately and easily be swapped in...

I agree that 53 WHr is a bit small but for an AMD based laptop, that can pull decent battery life and far from joke. There are plenty AMD laptops which can pull over 8 hours with even smaller battery

If you think Macs are PCs then that's your mistake, not mine.
Why they're not PC? Looks like you still don't even know the meaning of the term PC. Man, you need to do some serious reading and studying.

I can understand a 13 or 14" laptop coming with a 53wh battery, but not a premium 16" laptop with a 400 nit 1600p display. Yes, AMD U series chips are efficient, but even then, this battery is way too small in such a large laptop. We know it does have an 86Wh option, so it's even more inexcusable that their top of the line AMD config with a 3 month+ delivery time doesn't even let you pay extra to get the bigger battery.

I will consider this laptop if the battery upgrade is possible at a reasonable price (say around $100). Someone will need to open it to see how hard that would be, and then figure out how to actually order the OEM battery from Lenovo. Anyone here ordered a replacement battery directly from Lenovo? Is that even possible?

And I agree, unless you really need a TB4 port, there is no reason to go for the Intel version. The AMD 6800U/6850U is so much more efficient, and the RDNA2 iGPU is considerably better then Intel's Xe graphics.

What type of laptop is this? Gaming? Or a regular laptop? More like a dell xps or inspiron?

None of the above. It is a workstation laptop and is constructed like a tank. My T61p from 2007 still runs, albeit very slowly.
