This is a great deal. The lowest Ive seen the 5TB go in the last few years was $96
It's just a regular external USB hard drive but marketed for gaming. You can do whatever you want with it.You can install games on it, partition it for use with different machines or just back up data.
How exactly does this work? Do I install the "new" games to this drive? Do I need to install an OS on this drive? Relatedly, can one partition this drive and, say, put an older OS like W7 on their for games that will only run on W7?
You don't need to install an OS on the drive just for game storage. If you want to boot a 2nd OS from USB, that's definitely a possibility, but it'll likely only work on slightly older hardware.

I was also able to purchase without pro membership. Not an exclusive deal.
So for PS5 games there is no option to extend storage?
with this drive? only if you don't want to play them. you can only play ps5 games from internal or M.2. for PS5 games this would be more of a backup while you're not playing them. In the future it would always be faster to move them back to internal storage from this than it would be to install them from disc again. note that you can play ps4 games on a ps5 from external usb though. So depending on how many PS4 games you have installed that could be helpful.
