Sent into Seagate for warranty recovery/replacement. Catastrophic failure of the HDD is why it failed and the data is unrecoverable because of, "damage to the platters from the arm." I'm told. They send me a refurbished unit. That's right... 5 days of use. Company admitted catastrophic failure. You get a refurb. Tired of the back and forth email. I set it up to be a backup storage unit for a Mac pro tower. 1 week later. 7 f'ing days that one stops responding. I think I wrote about 2 to 3 GB of data to it. Just a power up and then a loud click. Then (Drive Error) pops up. These are garbage. I'm still fighting to get my money back. Seagate still wants to send me a refurbished unit. I have a Lacie that is years old. Nothing wrong. A WD My Book... 4 years old. Totally fine. Two Seagates take a dump inside of 90 days.
Seagate has a really interesting concept video that their Sith engineers posted when this was in development stages.

You would be better off with the WD_Black P10 Game Drive 5TB IMO that has 3 year Warranty. Not as stylish of course but more reliable and better build quality. It's strange that Gamestop has all these great deals recently; at least I think so

I guess the plus side is it does make the portable drive slightly shorter by half an inch, but I have encountered many times where just the connector board dies and the drive is actually fine. So it makes it a lot harder to transfer the data off.

I guess it is a way for them to collect accounts, names and addresses and credit card info.
