CyberPower is a decent brand and, for those not willing to pay APC prices, this is a great alternative.

For most modern computer power supplies don't you need pure sine wave ups. I think I made that mistake once before.

I wouldn't say it's a 'mistake' to buy pure sine wave - you're effectively buying something that produces higher quality power rather than an approximation of the electrical waveform.

If you said, I bought something better than I needed, then I'd agree with that. I still only buy pure sine wave UPSs.

You and the person you responded to are in agreement. They just forgot the question mark.

Great deal. These are no less than $99.99 on sale at Costco Warehouses. Tip for those not in the know. Closeout prices end in .97 such as this. I have never heard of Costco Business Centers. None in my region. I sincerely am surprised they would ever stop carrying them at a business center since many small businesses would benefit. Wishing anyone with a business center luck finding this gem of a deal!

Cyberpower regularly changes SKUs so this could just mean a slightly different cyberpower ups is on its way in… or maybe costco got a deal with APC

So are you're implying that my seasonic platinum PSU might last 15 years instead of 13 years when plugged into pure sine UPS?

Don't spread FUD. I've been using simulated stuff for over a decade without issues and use several of them to run equipment worth over half million dollars at work.

Now, I wonder if other business Costco has them on clearance as well.

It's not FUD - some modern PSUs will not function on a simulated sine wave. My old APC UPS simply would not keep one of my computers on. A pure sine wave UPS fixed this issue. I honestly don't know which PSUs fall into this category or if it has something to do with PFC. I don't think longevity is really an issue so much as compatibility.

Ok, maybe not complete FUD but that's not the norm.

Only a badly designed power supply with badly implemented power factor correction circuitry needs a pure sine ups.

Yes, there were a lot of bad PFC designs on the market for many years.

Remember (with the exclusion of PFC behavior on the front end) the front end of a power supply is (effectively) a big filter for both incoming and outgoing noise. Once the waveform hits the main filter capacitors and starts getting switched into the transformer there is no functional or practical difference to the power supply electronics whether it is a sine wave or simulated one.
