One time license for one PC. Suppose your pc dies and you replace it. Does Microsoft allow for a replacement key? Anyone know?

Believe is one activation per device so if you switch laptop you would have to remove old laptop activation and reactivate it on a new one

How is that done? Many years ago I did it with a call to Microsoft (took forever to find someone to do it) and they generated a new key code. So I am asking if anyone knows exactly how that is done in today's world. Especially if your laptop has died. Luckily don't need to do it today, but looking out for the inevitable laptop crash.

There is something similar with Microsoft accounts and a 10 device limit for store purchases. It's not too hard to do, though it can be annoying when the store lags.

When purchased, you'll receive an activation code. You'll then:
  1. Either create a new, or log into your Microsoft account.
  2. Redeemed your activation code & receive your license key (which is not really needed).
  3. You'll download the Office installer (link in your account) & run it.
  4. After installation, login with your Microsoft account & activate your software.
If needed, repeat these steps on your reloaded computer, omitting #2. If you get a new computer, you can revoke the license from your Microsoft account before reinstallation.

I take it there's no point in upgrading from 2019?

I miss the $9.95 HUP! Bought each version since 2010, 2019 being the final one that supported HUP before they switched to O365 discounts

They do have an end of life cycle. Honestly, I am not sure what all that means, but that is out there. This should give you a few more years on that…if it means anything.

I miss HUP too. Currently my company's program only offers a browser based Office. It's not even 365. Not a fan of it.

Game flip dot com is your friend, no need to spend more than 10 bucks
If the key stops working, does Game Flip give you a replacement or refund? What are the odds of getting a bad key?

Is this legit and legal? I'd like to buy it but just want to make sure that it's going to work without any issues with Microsoft. Anybody knows or anybody had experience with this?

1-year of M365 Personal (w/1-year Norton VPN) is still available for $39.99 from Newegg, if anyone is wanting the 1TB of OneDrive.
