back in the day many phones would have IR sensors and there were many remote control apps. i guess saving that 5 cents was worth taking 100 steps back and removing the feature.

Right I miss that feature. Could use my phone to control air conditioners around the house and change channels on TVs in restaurants easily lol.

No codes needed for roku tvs. It is pre programmed for roku tv. All roku tv use the same remote and have the same functions. Basically its On Off Volume and a directional pad.

Anybody have recommendations for a remote that works with stbemu app on firestick for vizio tv? My vizio remote colored buttons do not work and the pattern matches this remote. My panasonic and lg work fine with the color pattern and red - green - yellow - blue.

I have a TCL Roku TV with the simple remote. It sucks when you want to move past many channels. It won't even continue moving if you hold down the button.

I have an insignia fire tv, and can download an app on phone called fire tv that controls it, I also have a Google Chromecast with android on that same TV, and a Google tv app for remote control there. I really like that remotes did away with infrared, and work with radio...

You can program your Vizio buttons to correspond to the color keys on STB EMU. https://youtu.be/B-FxAZyW1eQ

The part where you're asked to choose a key on the firestick remote, press the corresponding color key on your Vizio remote
