You had PS Plus that was converted to PS Plus "Essential" under the new PS Plus Subscription 3 Tiers system. You can add 12 months of PS Plus Essential for $45 from the link above (instead of $59).
Now Sony is letting you upgrade your PS Plus "Essential" subscription to "Extra" or "Premium" tier for a $100/$150 flat fee (which otherwise would cost you $40/$60 extra a year) no matter how many years of "Essential" subscription you have left . So stack as many years of PS Plus "Essential" as you can and the cheaper it will be to get the "Extra" or "Premium" Tiers (the break even point is at around 2 years, anything after that makes the tier upgrade cheaper and cheaper)

But
This looks like what Xbox did with their 1 dollar upgrade to ultimate, except Sony is cashing in 100 per upgrade and letting you cap at as high as you want. Smart! the lifespan of a system is usually like 5 years so Id he hesitant to max out more than 7
It's a bummer I've had a psn subscription for years but now it doesn't seem worth it especially because the games available on the "pass" are meh, I'm spending more and more time on my Xbox which I love game pass is great!
you are well aware of this, yet you choose not to share that.
please stop misleading people.
The original person complained that the old Playstation Plus was increased in price. It was NOT. That's a fact. And that's what the FreedomPenguin stated; no price hike for PS+.
You are talking about PlayStation Now, which was something completely different than PlayStation Plus. But FreedomPenguin is absolutely correct in that PlayStation Plus is exactly the same as it was before this change; same service and same price. It is now just renamed to PlayStation Plus Essential.
PlayStation Now has been discontinued and its services rolled into the higher tiers of PlayStation Plus.
If someone before wanted to download and play PlayStation 4 games, they could do it with PS Now. Now they would need a PS+ Extra or Premium tier. If someone wanted to stream games before, they needed PS Now and now need PS+ Premium.
For those who do not want or need streaming, they will actually save money on the new service **if** they also usually have a PS Plus subscription. For those who want to stream games, they will pay the same if they had PS+ before and more if they did not have PS+.
I'm personally coming out way ahead on this new service because I bought a 3 month PS Now subscription before the switchover and it converted my PS+ subscription to PS Plus Premium until 2027.

so I did the same. they refunded (I dont have a kid) but our last friend in the trio, he did it, and they told him pound sand lololol. what's funny about this is, hes the brokest of all 3 of us. me and my other friend are pretty content, I only did it because he did it.
but in all seriousness, they've refunded me games, etc. never had an issue.
They can just say no
Fraud is doing chargeback
Asking for a refund is not bannable
